Description

This book is about a separate world within our many worlds of people that love the magic of dancing, sharing space on a dance floor with a mature partner or even solo as so many precious Ladies do when their so called men are too busy trying to capture the attention of some younger woman, not realizing just how foolish they really look, These mature woman are so much more in tune with life and the allure of the magic of a romantic evening; given a choice I would personally dance with a more seasoned woman, I would want her to take me to the same sky where she is, as the younger ladies will soon understand it’s the wisdom most mature real men seek in a lady, there is so much beauty and elegance with a seasoned woman that knows she’s all woman. Through my eyes she can feel me asking her to fill my heart with her smile, allowing me to touch the rhythm of her soul, this only comes from experience and time, without this kind of woman, the night, and the dance, has lost its charm, despues de todo, la dama es la danza—no quiero separarme de ti meaning (after all, the lady, is the dance, and I do not want to separate from you.

CHAPTER # 1
(I will see you in my dreams, (Te Vere en mis Suenos)
D owntown San Antonio smelling all the flavors of many different wonderful restaurants lining the river walk a nationwide famous attraction, truly a beautiful place to visit, and to taste the flavor of Latin foods among others, many, many night clubs are along our beautiful City and river walk, but moving into this huge city I call home now is simply exciting on any given day, but especially on the weekend.
Simply walking past any of the Latin clubs will capture your attention, not to mention all the beautiful people blending into a mystifying evening, tempting one to come inside and feel the full magic of the Salsa, and Mambo, Cumbia, Tango, as well as many others, so many beautiful Ladies, and striking gentlemen.
If by chance you happen to have eye contact with one of these beauties, let your heart be your guide, don’t be shy simply turn your body lose, let the music lead you, and enjoy its full flavor on the dance floor you may be surprised, these Latin ladies can really move on the dance floor and pull you right into the magic they share with you if- you are willing, do you dare?
Moving on into the city one will find a few ballroom clubs, interesting and exciting to step out onto a fast-paced dance arena, one needs to be in good shape and be able to keep up in this arena, sophisticated comes to mind with the flavor of this dance, the waltz and polka, are fascinating however not easy.
Moving on down the line, you will find many country dance halls after all this is still a part of Texas, you know cowboy hats and boots big belt buckles blue jeans and so on, the triple step country dance is festinating, one can be very creative with this dance, also the country two step another sweet dance, country waltz, spent many nights in these arenas, so many wonderful people and very well in tune with country dancing and music, the heart and soul of the west.
After spending many years in clubs across this city, I realized that so many of the clubs were missing certain elements to bring the club full circle and more inviting to serious people that are looking for true entertainment and a blessed evening out dancing and wining and dining, as I reflect on life from this point on, it is just time we seek and I could have bought almost anything, but I could not buy time, and this is where my story begins.
Another Friday night in my fancy night club that I am running here in Texas called (The private club) it is like the Chrystal Club from San Francisco that was once a very popular place, I have a nice size dance floor and stage for entertainment, special bands, singing acts, comedians, and new singing groups and some very talented young up and coming beautifully gifted people, my people as it is.
Fridays were set up for the adults 50 and over, I wanted a special showing of talent, and some oldies as well as acapella, nothing but fond memories for all that attended, you must be a member and be voted into our private club.
We are all professionals mostly retired professors from various universities, as well as teachers, police officers, attorneys, military personal, with one thing in common an evening of promise, of entertainment, dances, and shows on stage, comedy and singing, to include Acapella, therefore we call it our private club, in the middle of the 7th largest city in the United States, San Antonio Texas.
I handpicked our security team as well as the cameras that surrounded our club, also off duty police officers in and out of the club for my people to feel safe.
My dear friend Emiliano, would always be there for me with the opening on Friday nights, he enjoyed the club atmosphere not to mention all the ladies to choose from that could dance as well as he did, he is a retired military Major, dresses very well, and has the charisma most ladies look for in a real man, we had over 3 hundred members in our private club, not all attending at the same time, this would be a very packed evening if everyone did show up, however it would be very cozy and inviting I must admit.
I remember teaching so many of our patrons how to dance in Latin form, some Country and some Ballroom; I’ve been dancing since I was ten years old growing up in a housing project in Detroit, mom was forced to move to this area from Alabama and Louisiana areas, her so called first husband decided to leave her with 4 boys and no way to take care of them or herself, we were still blessed because we had each other, and God guided my mother, placed us in the Charles housing projects, with all walks of life, dancing was a special thing for us especially on the weekends and during the summer months.
I remember one summer turning 11 years old, my little lady friend Donna and I were acting like we knew how to kiss like the big kids only to be embarrassed by Donna’s big sister Anna, she found us kissing and told me to come to her, she asked if l really knew anything about kissing, and of course my answer was no, so she pulled me into her and gave me the quickest French kissing lesson anyone could ever have, I didn’t know what a tongue felt like in one’s mouth, damn that 17 year old could really kiss, what an experience all I can say is wow, you guessed it, little Donna and I simply had to try this out, what a rush for both of us as her sister Anna laughed her butt off, what a sister, we loved it.
So, my story of the dance arena starts in a Housing Project’s dancing in the streets and in basements, and garage parties; dancing was all we had in addition to our singing Doo Wop and Acapella and all of this carried over into adulthood for me.
Our music and vocal Doo Wop are a genre of rhythm and blues music. It became very popular among the youth in big cities in the 40s 50s and 60s Detroit, DC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, some of the very best tracks of music that will never die came from these sections of our beautiful America, and some of us still sing Acapella to this very day, Kenny Vance with his beautiful falsetto and above tenor voice, and one beautiful croon
