Description

There were legends galore in the universe. A supernova explosion threatened the planet The World of Plants. Spaceship commander Daffodil from that planet arrived on Earth. Together with Professor Chat and friends, they fought against the dark matter evils. They found the reason behind the destruction of ancient civilisations and uncovered a far-reaching conspiracy. The Daffodil team solved the secret from a slate found on Easter Island and brought back the life of a ''smart dinosaur'' that died many million years ago. The team found the viruses of the Ebola disease and cured the patients. The team beat the plot of the evils and protected a UN summit of world leaders. This book travels to many places on Earth and tells the stories of Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. The book is full of love, adventures and knowledge.

About the Author
The author, Dr. Chris Chang, got his Ph.D. degree in astrophysics from the University of Pittsburgh, U.S.A. He loves science, history, and literature. When he was a young boy, he read The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and loved it. He has published ten books in China, U.S.A., Canada, and U.K. In this book, the author used his background to create images of the adorable aliens. Dark matters and dark energy are the hot topics in today’s astronomy. This is the first time in literary works to have ’ dark matter evils’ as characters.

Chapter 1: A Supernova Explosion
On February 24, 1987, at the Las Campanas Observatory in Chile, South America, something great was discovered. Ian Shelton of the University of Toronto and Oscar Duhalde of Chile observed an astonishing change in the sky: the Large Magellanic Cloud seen from the Southern Hemisphere suddenly became much brighter. The most powerful supernova explosion so far in history was observed.
If you think that explosion happened in 1987, you are wrong. Instead, it occurred somewhat 166,000 years ago. Since the explosion happened too far away, only in the year 1987 the light arrived on the Earth. Most people did not pay enough attention to the discovery except astronomers who immediately defined that event as Supernova 1987A.
Not too long after that discovery, in the year 2011, another celestial explosion, in a scale smaller than Supernova 1987A, happened somewhere in the Milky Way. Due to the long distance, poor Earth’s residents must wait for another hundred thousand years to receive the information about that.
However, to the alien residents on the planet ‘The World of Plants’ far away in the universe, that was really a bad news. Their beautiful home faced big dangers and their life faced serious challenges. That news could not mean more serious to them.
Aliens living on that planet had advanced science and technology. They were flowers, trees, grass, and vegetables. However, unlike the plants on the Earth, those ‘supermen and superwomen of plants’ were very smart in everything. They liked dancing and singing and could fly over the sky. They enjoyed the life every day. Upon the supernova explosion, they knew that their ‘sun’ was going to explode not too long from then. Their mother star would die someday and the threat was really serious.
What should they do? How could they survive?
In order to study the Earth and other planets of the solar system, The World of Plants had placed a space station near the solar system. The station was a great base of science and could move across the universe with very high speed.
That huge space station was full of sleek machines and advanced instruments. Angels on The World of Plants were a thousand years old but still looked very young. Thanks to the numerous kinds of flowers, the interior of the space station was decorated beautifully. Each flower could move and dance; they were young, colorful, and lovely.
The commander of the station was Miss Daffodil. She was noble, beautiful, and elegant. She got the news that their homeland was under threat. The distance from the station to their home planet was far away, but thanks to the most up-to-date science and technology, these aliens could communicate with their home planet through quantum entanglement. As a commander, she already knew that something very serious was about to happen.
As a leader, Daffodil knew that it was not allowed for her to show any panic at that time. She had to stay calm to hold the responsibility. After thinking for a little while, she told her assistant, Miss Mimosa, to call in the people in-charge of every branch to the conference room for a meeting.
Mimosa, a happy young girl, did not know what had happened far away. Using the broadcast system, she notified all department leaders to proceed to the meeting room. Upon hearing the announcement, branch leaders put down their work and came to the conference hall.
Ivy, a slender girl with green dress, arrived first. She patted Mimosa’s shoulder and said, “Hi, Mimosa! You called us to come because you are going to announce your engagement with Mr. Sycamore. Isn’t that right?”
Mimosa felt embarrassed. The natural reaction of the plant mimosa to an outside touch is to shrink a little bit. When the leaves of the grass mimosa are touched or stimulated, its foliage shrinks and leaves close because water inside the leaf blades flows elsewhere. Since Ivy was a dear friend of Mimosa, the leaves did not close. Instead, Mimosa flinched her shoulders as a response.
Miss Mimosa smiled and said, “Hey, Ivy, go in quickly. If you are late, you may not find an empty seat for yourself, then you may have to wrap around another person. We don’t know whether the scene will be ‘Ivy vines wrap on a tree,’ or ‘the tree wraps on you.’” The reason Mimosa said so was that the tree, Aspen, loved Ivy secretly, just not yet announced openly to the public.
Ivy knew that Aspen loved her in her mind. She smiled and entered the hall. Next, came together the chief scientist, Sycamore Senior, and his son, Young Sycamore. The senior scientist looked tense. Just like the commander, Daffodil, he already knew that their home planet was facing danger. Although the son wanted to say many lovely words to his lover, Miss Mimosa, but he was shy to do so because his father, the senior, was with him. So, the son only smiled, nodded to his girlfriend. Mimosa’s face became red, bowed slightly, and greeted other comers into the conference room.
Daffodil whispered to the chief scientist, Senior Sycamore, first. They exchanged a few words in low voice and understood each other. Miss Daffodil was the most beautiful plant on that space station. Although she was over one thousand Earth’s years old, she looked very young and bright. Members of the planet, The World of Plants, had different ideas about time and age in comparison to the people on the Earth. To the fairy plants, hundreds or thousands of years old was still young.
Commander Daffodil attracted the sights of all attendees. She looked around the room and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, my friends, I am afraid that I have to report to you an unpleasant news. Our home, The World of Plants, is facing a serious danger. Let our chief scientist tell you the details.”
Senior Sycamore was relatively old. Wrinkles on his face revealed his vicissitudes. “My dear fellows,” said the chief scientist, “the worst thing is coming. It is not just a theoretical prediction; it is the truth that dangers are near our motherland. The World of Plants may fall into catastrophic disasters. Please allow me to announce that the supply of light and heat from our source star is about to come to an end. Everything in the universe has a beginning and an end: a birth and a death. Once the disaster happens, our homeland will be destroyed.”
When Sycamore finished, Daffodil announced calmly, “In order to give hundreds of millions of brothers and sisters of our plants a chance to find a way out, we will send exploring teams to the Earth and other planets of the solar system. Our teams will study the environment of those places; find out whether it is possible for us plants to survive there. We have much more advanced science and technology than the human beings on the Earth.
