Shaniqua Carter

“Wait, don’t open it!” I demanded to Chase as I jumped in front of her and knocked her hand off the doorknob.
She knew Desmond as the tattoo artist. She didn’t know how crazy this man really was aside from work, so I didn’t think that it was a good idea for her to be trying to open the door. Besides, I knew that if Desmond got one glimpse of me, he would already know what had just transpired between Chase and me. Even though Desmond and I were no longer together, I still didn’t want it to be like I was the type of woman who table hops. Not only that, but what just took place between Chase and I wasn’t consensual. She took advantage of me while I was sleeping and basically raped me with her mouth.
Desmond had gotten on me in the past, telling me that I needed to get the locks changed and stuff, but I honestly didn’t expect Chase to come over. I guess you can say that I was being a little naïve at the time. If I hated Chase before, I really hated her ass now because she was standing there before me with this silly smirk on her face, as if she couldn’t wait for the drama that was about to happen.
“Shaniqua, open this mother fuckin door!” Dee snapped, and I heard a loud noise, as if he had kicked the door or something.
I had never caused any problems in this neighborhood before, and for the most part, I was cordial with the people who lived around me. I wanted to keep it that way, so against my better judgment, I turned the doorknob. I was scared for both Chase and I at the moment because I had no idea what the hell Desmond was going to do.
I let go of the knob and jumped back because it was as if this nigga had turned into a caveman or some shit as he pushed his self inside my condo. He looked from Chase to me, and then he shook his head.
“Yo, get the fuck out!” were the only words that he had for Chase. I honestly thought that he was going to lay hands on her because Desmond was just that crazy.
“Nigga, I ain’t going no mother fuckin where! I pay the got damn bills here. I can stay in this bitch as long as I want,” Chase said.
At that point, I was so fed up with her, and I was questioning myself on what the fuck I even saw in her from the beginning. She was acting so damn bitter.
“Now you see what I mean when I tell your hard-headed ass some of the shit I say? I told your ass that this bitch was going to feel a sense of entitlement because she was still footing the bills around this bitch!” Dee said, focusing his attention on me.
Judging by the redness of his eyes, I could tell that he was good and high. I knew that while he was high, arguing with Chase was the last thing that he wanted to be doing. After his eyes left mine, they went back to Chase. I watched as he reached into the waist band of the joggers that he was wearing and pulled out a gun, making me cringe.
“No matter how much you try to be a nigga, that pussy is still bleeding every twenty-eight days, so I’m taking that into consideration and I’m not going to lay hands on you, but I will shoot the fuck out of your ass! Now, I’m going to ask your bitch ass one last time to raise the fuck up out of here, and if you don’t move, I’m going to stop talking and let my bullets speak!” he told Chase as he took the safety off the gun. It made a clicking noise.
I always knew that Dee was bat shit crazy, but this only further proved that I was right about him the entire time. Chase must have been able to tell that this nigga was crazy as well because this time, she picked up her feet and started walking to the door.
“Yeah, get your ass the fuck up out of here! Ain’t no pussy over here for you anymore!” Desmond taunted her as he placed his gun back in the waist of his pants.
“Nigga, ten minutes ago, I just had her pussy all in my mouth,” Chase had to get in before she walked out the door.
Desmond could have said anything to her, but he just wasn’t the type of person to argue back and forth with someone, and he damn sure wasn’t going to do it with a bitch. When Chase was out the door, he slammed it and he came in my direction.
“Yo, tomorrow when you get off work, I want your ass on a fuckin’ computer looking at apartments and shit, because you getting the fuck from out of here! I told you that bitch was going to bring her ass back around here, and I have this feeling in my stomach that I’m going to have to kill her!” Dee said.
I looked at him like he was fuckin’ crazy. I’m talking short, yellow bus crazy.
“Desmond, you don’t have that fuckin’ right anymore to be telling me what the fuck I can and cannot do! You threw that privilege out the fuckin’ window the day you decided to take bullshit ass information from your baby mama and put your hands on me as a result of it! I still haven’t told my brother about it, but best believe that I’m going to, and he’s going to fuck your ass up!” I screamed at him.
Just looking in his eyes, had me mad all over again as I thought back to yesterday when he barged his ass in here and choked the shit out of me. Not only was I upset with him, but I was hurt because I really had grown to love Desmond. I’d never been with a person who I felt could handle all of me. In my prior relationships with Travis and Chase, I felt like I was too much woman for them; like they didn’t deserve all of me. For some reason, I felt that Desmond deserved all of me, and my mean ass put my fuckin’ guard down for his stupid ass, only for him to fuck it up behind a bitch who he says doesn’t mean a damn thing to him.
I will always love Desmond, but I knew in my heart that the two of us just wouldn’t make it because this shit was too toxic.
“Shaniqua, I know you mad, and I apologized for that shit already. You already know that I would never put my hands on you that way, but it’s like I fuckin’ snapped. When it comes to my child and you, I just lose all fuckin’ self-control. Like I said, I know you mad, but quit hollering that you going to let your brother beat my ass because you and I both know that’s not going to happen. I love Jah like the brother that I never had, but if that nigga feeling froggy and he want to throw hands with me for what I did, then I’ll be ready whenever he brings his ass my way. That’s not going to fuck up our friendship, though, because we’ll both get a few licks in and shit will be back to normal. As far as you and I go…” he said and took a few steps closer to me.
I was trying my hardest not to look him in his eyes because then I would get weak and give in. Lord knows I needed to keep my foot down when it came to Desmond.
“You really think that this relationship is ready to be over? We just getting started. One fuck up, and you ready to give a nigga his walking papers already?” he asked me. His voice didn’t come off as demanding as it usually was. In fact, it was soft. Almost like he was hurt behind this.
“Dee, what you did wasn’t something that was small and could be fixed overnight. You choked the shit out of me. Your ass could have possibly killed me. So yes, that one fuck up leads to me giving you your walking papers,” I told him.
The whole time I spoke, I said it with my head down because I knew that this wasn’t what I wanted to do, but it needed to be done. I needed to watch out for the signs before it was too late and I was in too deep. I was with Travis for years, and I covered for his ass for so long when he used to beat my ass. I refused to do that a second time around because that wasn’t love.
“You have to convince me, Shaniqua, that you’re really ready to let me go. I told you a while ago that I know when you lying because you start avoiding eye contact. Look me in my eyes and tell me that you don’t want this shit anymore, and I swear on my parents that I’ll leave your ass alone. I swear to God, I’ll stop fuckin’ with you. Let me know if I’m stepping on your toes, and I’ll gladly back up,” he said, walking even closer and using h
