Joshua Samuelson continues his journey through life in this second book. He has a birthmark on his right palm that symbolizes his ancestorial relationship to Judas Iscariot. Jesus, the Prince of Light, protects the family as he promised Judas's wife. This birthmark causes money to fall easily into the palm of any family member who wears the mark.

Having lost his wife in childbirth he needs to reorganize his life and help his children adjust to living without a mother. He hires a nanny from England to help fill the gap, giving him time to mourn and adjust to being a single parent.

Strangely, at a party it becomes known that the Nanny is from an aristocratic family in England. Slowly a relationship blossoms and a wedding relaxes the family. But as life continues, evil raises it's head with problems in Joshua's businesses. Then his new wife's family causes trouble, and finally the world creates havoc with terrorists and the threat of World War III.

Joshua has always feared that something would happen to his family with the world in turmoil, so he builds bomb shelters and eventually converts a cave into a massive shelter to withstand a nuclear bomb. He will use his money for loans to people in need during the coming Tribulation, which he has read about in the Bible.

Barbara is Joshua's Guardian Angel and she has watched over him since his birth. She has contacted him once to warn of future events. She also watches Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness, who covets all the family's souls. He is aware of what is happening and waits in the shadows.

PROLOGUE
J oshua Samuelson graduated Stanford University Law School, married Rachel Cohen, and settled in Sausalito California. An unknown great aunt, Edith Goldman, contacted him after the wedding due to an announcement in the newspaper and surprised by her letter Joshua traveled to Manhattan, New York, to meet her. One stormy evening while listening to his aunt’s story, he learned that the infamous Judas Iscariot of biblical lore was his ancestor.
The aunt quickly decreed him sole owner of the family conglomerate, Kerioth Industries, informing him that he was the last known family member to carry the needed birthmark, a red mark on the palm below the right thumb. Corporate bi-laws stated this necessity because without a person carrying the family birthmark the corporations were thought to fail.
The aunt told about an ancient scroll written by Judas’s wife, Naomi, that described his biblical plight that fateful night of Passover 2000 years ago. Family protected the scroll because the Catholic Church, due to it’s unauthorized and presumed dubious content, wanted it destroyed. The Catholic Brotherhood had attempted to confiscate the scroll many times throughout history to no avail. On that dark night in his aunt’s parlor, Joshua became protector of the scroll.
Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness, aware that Jesus of Nazareth protected this family, coveted their souls.
Barbara, Joshua’s guardian angel watched over him as superior Angels observed from afar.
The birthmark resembled a Jewish shekel and symbolized Judas’ allegiance to Jesus, thus money easily fell into the palms of those who carried it giving monetary security in a hazardous and daunting world.

T he New Year’s Eve gala put on by the Denver Hospital Guild was a prestigious event with city dignitaries and top officials invited. The Law Firm of MacRae and Samuelson had been included in the guest list for the first time.
An embossed formal invitation announced the event:
The Denver Hospital Guild invites you to attend
a New Year’s Eve Gala at the Elks Club.
Formal attire, arrival 7 PM,
Dinner 8 PM, dancing until 1 AM.
The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra will provide music
and a silent auction will open at 9 PM with proceeds going to
the Rocky Mountain Children’s Hospital.
Joshua’s tuxedo jacket hung on a hanger in his dressing room. Reaching for it he paused to reflect---, Rachel dying in childbirth nearly three years ago caused a time of mourning and recovery. Wounded hearts have healed and it’s time to move forward. The twins are fifteen and Jude will be three next month; his birthday always a reminder of Rachel’s death. Well, a new year with new goals.
Pushing into his shoes he thought about Gwen. She was a surprise, an unexpected surprise and I love her. Soon I’ll ask for her hand in marriage.
Absently rubbing the birthmark on his right palm, a reminder of his heritage; hopefully the years of chaos have ended. Last March I exchanged the ancient family scroll, under false pretenses, for a Certificate of Acceptance signed by the Catholic Pope in Rome. This act relieved my family of being shadowed and threatened by the Catholic Brotherhood. Preserving the scroll’s safety is complete and the New Year will ring in blessed renewal.
Checking himself in the mirror, he saw a man of forty with a sprinkling of gray throughout his black curly hair.
Colleen thinks I resemble John F. Kennedy Jr., silly thought.
A splash of cologne and he was ready to bring in the New Year.

Barbara had watched over Joshua since birth and at the insistence of her superiors she had revealed her angelic self to him to forewarn of difficult times ahead, thus he knew of her existence.
Anton, a Dominion Angel, and Rafael, an Archangel, were Barbara’s advisers. She had recently been promoted within the Angelic Realm due to her ingenuity and alertness concerning earthly situations surrounding Joshua.
Anton had asked her to maintain close vigilance again due to escalating terrorism, a reprehensible tactic encouraged by Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness. Guardian Angels were on alert.
The heavenly Father knows the beginning and the end concerning all things; terrorism must be part of his earthly plan, Barbara decided watching Joshua dress for the Gala. The ancient scroll is safe and the Catholic Brotherhood has backed off, though Joshua is still under surveillance.

T he chauffeur waited for the family in the limousine with the motor running. It had snowed most of the day so it was overly cold.
Adam stood in front of the fireplace dressed in a cobalt blue cashmere turtleneck, black sports jacket, and black slacks. At fifteen he looked like his father with black curly hair and an athletic build standing at 6’ tall. Amy, his twin, walked into the room her hair hanging in reddish blond curls to her waist. She was dressed in a pink wool midi-skirt and lamb’s wool sweater combination with pink suede boots. Petite figure at 5’ 6” with big blue eyes, she resembled her grandmother Gilda.
Gwen followed Amy into the room donning a stunning black evening gown that fit like a glove with one arm exposed and the other sleeved. To complete her ensemble Joshua had given her great Aunt Edith’s emeralds to wear for the evening. Green enhanced her mint green eyes and auburn hair.
Last to enter was Joshua. “Well, it looks like we’re ready to leave. Adam, you’re almost as tall as me,” he observed.
“Dad, Gwen’s dress is a knock out.”
“Thank you, Adam. Save a dance for me this evening?” she asked in her British accent.
“Sure, if Dad steps aside long enough.” He boxed his father’s shoulder.
“Picture time. Dad, you and Gwen first,” encouraged Amy holding up her iPhone.
Esther brought Jude in so he could be included, though he was dressed for bed.
