The lawsuits that ensued featured innovative and shady defence tactics. Radic dramatically retells these true stories of priests gone bad, drawing on his personal trials as a pastor convicted of embezzlement, forgery and fraud.

I N T R O D U C T I O N

The way this book came about was quite peculiar, on the one hand. On the other hand, I guess it could be viewed as a logical development. It happened this way. On November, , I was arrested and placed in a holding cell at the Ripon Police Department. Later I was transported to the San Joaquin County Jail, California, where I was booked, strip-searched, and issued orange jail clothing. Charged with ten felonies, I spent six months in jail. I got out of jail on May, . The only reason I got out was because my attorney cut a deal with the district attorney’s office. My part of the deal was pleading guilty to one count of grand theft by embezzle- ment and agreeing to testify in a murder case. The D.A.’s part of the deal was that I would be released and my sen- tence reduced to time served. You might be asking yourself, “Well, what the heck did he do?” I stole from my church. The technical terms were fraud,
