Description

The GoPs in the 22nd Century attempts to show how a typical young couple go about their life at work and at leisure after the successful implementation of 'Project Minus Four', a system which has done away with 'money' as the economic unit that used to allow unspeakable crimes; 'borders', which used to separate countries; 'organised religions', which used to create conflicts; and 'marriage' as a means of owning people. Ray and Gwen typify how life in the 22nd century can be free of anxiety, fear, poverty, violence and conflict, and Ray, as a way of thanking their great-grandparents for being instrumental in the implementation of Project Minus Four, also writes a book to expose the futility of the arguments for and against the so-called 'creation vs evolution' hypothesis, and offers the 'Third Alternative' as the solution to the problem.

About The Author
Who is Jim Scarano? And why the GoPs in the 22 nd century?
Following a working life as an electrical engineer spanning some 30 years, Jim Scarano turns to philosophy and psychology to try and formulate an answer to the universal question: Why is it that despite such enormous advances in technology and science, society still faces the horrors of war, poverty, crime, insecurity, conflicts, domestic violence, and so on?
And why do we still see marriage failures, profiteering, illegal drug businesses, business malpractices, conflicts based on religion, children being abused or abandoned, and so on?
In contrast to his previous works in the area of personal improvement techniques and practices, designed to maintain good health and the like, such as his self-published book on the “Alexander Technique” dealing with “Readings and Practices for Self-Realisation” among many others, Jim Scarano is offering a simple, yet comprehensive solution to the problems that society faces today in terms of economic instability, poverty, social and international conflicts, family and interpersonal disruption, racism, animosity arising from religious affiliation, and so on.
The present volume – an appropriate sequel to his Life in the 22 nd Century already published, offers the alternative as to how to manage our economy, how to deal with religious differences, how to avoid family disputes and domestic violence, as well as how to prevent the production and distribution of illegal drugs, weapons, people, etc.
But that is not all that Jim Scarano is offering in the present work. His recent research in the area of psychology and philosophy has led him to the “discovery” of a “third alternative” to the age-old question of creation vs evolution theories.
After you read The GoPs in the 22 nd Century , you too, will wonder why it is that no-one else has come up with such a simple, yet most effective way of combating these problems…

Ray and Gwen Back from 1950
The time is 2110. The place is Sydney, Australia somewhere on the North Shore, where a young couple, Ray and Gwen, have just returned from their GoPs trip in time, where they were able to ascertain that it was indeed because of the book that their great grandparents had written back in that period the reason why they were able to enjoy the security, the comfort and the abundance that everyone was experiencing in the 22 nd Century.
The ‘abundance’ that everyone was able to enjoy was largely due to the fact that considerably more people had become available to produce goods and services. Since money had been done away with under Project Minus Four , as the basis for the ‘economy’, this meant that people that used to be employed in banks, insurance companies, accountancy businesses, taxation and related businesses, money-lending and brokerage businesses, lotteries and other ‘agencies’ related to money ‘prizes’, etc.—all had become available to be employed in the management and control of actual goods and services.
As well as these obvious changes due to there being no ‘money’ to be gained, there were also advantages related to the anxiety and stress that used to be experienced by anyone whose interest had been in ‘making money’ on the stock market, investments, buying properties to let out, not to speak of the anxiety and hardship that used to be experienced by young couples that were planning to marry and have kids, borrow money to buy a house, and so on.
And yes, the absence of money as the common ‘wealth’ meant that there would no longer be ‘price rises’, higher taxes, devaluation of the dollar, inflation, and economic recession, loss of income due to natural occurrences like floods, drought, heat-waves and the like. In the new ‘economy’ anyone who may be engaged in producing, let’s say, cabbages, or raising sheep, or grapes to eat or to make wine, or whatever, is not going to experience ‘loss of income’ if anything were to happen to his crop. His ‘ranking’ is still the same as far as the system is concerned; the only difference the loss of a crop would make is that people will have to choose a different product at the supermarket.
Similarly, the ‘security’ that was being enjoyed by the community at large was due to the fact that all kinds of major crimes such as profiteering, money laundering, embezzlement, blackmail, break-ins, bank hold-ups, armed robberies, money-motivated murders and/or assaults, drug trafficking, gambling, betting, the import/export of illegal goods, dealings with so-called ‘valuable objects’, and so many other crimes that were money-motivated, had died a natural death under Project Minus Four.
Another side-effect due to the money-less economy, interestingly enough, was the fact that road accidents had dramatically reduced. This is being considered to be due to the fact that now, when people get on the road to go to work, or deliver goods, equipment, or whatever, they no longer do so in a hurry to get there because ‘time is money’—they just get there when they get there—safely. Those road accidents that used to be attributed to tiredness, or inattention because the driver was engaged in a heated dispute on the mobile, or with his fellow traveller, no longer happen; this because no-one needs to work overtime, and/or because now people will have been educated at an early age to consider the act of ‘working’ to be independent of domestic or idealistic disputes, and so on.
Comforting, too, was the fact that people now were happy to be employed in the production of goods and services for the benefit of the community, without the anxiety and stress that used to be quite common in the old days, when you had to earn your livelihood by hard work or go into ‘business’ trying to make a profit, but which often ended up in bankruptcy, loss of savings and so on. The old system was well known to result in accidents on the road, personal anxiety and often suicide, domestic and business disputes and often violence, including murder, and the other crimes. It had taken the authorities generations, before they realised that just telling drivers to ‘be more careful on the road’ did not hit the right button, since, as should have been obvious to the authorities, the person who was going to have an accident would have been someone who thought ‘it’s not going to happen to me’. It was, eventually, this idea of ‘me’ that had to be brought into the education system and teach the kids that it was dangerous to think like that.
Fourthly, the elimination of marriage and religion meant that there could not be any significant conflict between religious factions or between members of what used to be the ‘family’ environment.
Under Project Minus Four these four elements: money , borders , religion and marriage had been removed, and a new system of government and new laws had been put in place to ensure that the new money-less, border-less, marriage-less, and religion-less society would function in such a way that ensured that everyone contributed, in accordance with their level of skill and/or training, to the production of goods and services which the same community would then be able to enjoy.
We will be able to see how the new ‘economy’ works, if we follow our heroes, Ray and Gwen in their daily routine.
