W hen I was a child; I was born in a small town called Liberia Florida; Which is now called Hollywood, Florida; All my sisters and brothers grew up in that small town and another town called Dania, Bch. Fl., Is where we later resided, but we lived in a little community called Camp Blanding; which is close to Dania, Bch. Fl.,but when we was growing up; in Dania;. It was only called Dania Bch., at the time; it was only across the tracks where whites only lived at the time. I only remember Dania, FL in the black neighborhoods until the black commissioner; Mr. Albertson; Who also had a brother that worked with him in the same community; Dania Bch., FL at the time, but when he; Mr. Albertson won the election; a few things then; changed in the community. My mom and dad had seven boys and three girls. My oldest brother was born before my mom met my dad, and all his relatives became close to us, and part of our family as well; Also;. My dad had a daughter that he never mentioned to us;. From South Carolina, but we heard about her later in life when was grown.
M e and my family lived on the back street of a small community called Camp Blanding where they said Army men use to camp out at. In the front of our house was a canal where we live and we would go on that canal everyday; rain or shine to play when I was in the first grade; I remember catching my first fish. It was a mullet fish. That was the most rewarding feeling I ever had, and I remember taking my fish; that I caught, and was still on the line, and I walked across the canal till I got home and showed my family with a huge smile;. “Look what I caught”. Then my brother or mother took the fish off the hook, and we cooked it for dinner.
