DEDICATION
This book is dedicated, unusually, to the enjoyment of my posterity.
I will also like to dedicate the book to the memory of my parents and grandparents. I will like to use this opportunity to thank them for looking after me and for their love and kindness towards me.
AIM
Any proceeds from the sale(s) or distribution of this book (the whole project) should be used in setting up a Fund, which should be invested in a safe investment. This fund should be called Dr Julius Adebiyi Akanni Ṣ odip ọ ’s Fund. This should be added to fund set up from income earned from the sale (royalty) of the earlier edition of The Making of the Doctor by the same author.
All the proceeds being generated from the sale of the book (or project) as well as all the proceeds from his estate should be deposited as Capital into the fund. The managers of the Estate Fund should not get more than 10% of the income generated by the Fund each year. The proceeds in the Fund should be invested in a relatively safe investment and what is generated should be called the Fund Income.
So, should any of the remaining of my estate, after deduction of any debts and taxes should be added to the Dr Julius Adebiyi Akanni Ṣ odip ọ ’s Fund. The monies in the fund should be distributed from time to time occasionally but regularly to my biological grandchildren, biological great grandchildren, biological great great grandchildren, and biological generations yet to be born with no conditions attached other than being my proven biological descendant. For example, for those who are eligible i.e., my biological descendants, 30 percent of the yearly income should be distributed equally yearly rather than 5 percent monthly. Those who are managing the Fund and its distribution should receive 5 to 10 percent of the yearly income, as appropriate to use in maintaining the fund and as their fees.
The remaining 90% (or 95%) of the yearly income generated by the Estate Fund, reiterated here, should be equally divided between the biological posterity of Dr Julius Adebiyi Akanni Ṣ odip ọ for generations to come including those yet unborn for as long as possible as far as the Estate exists.
The division of the Estate Fund’s income should be as follows:
Each member of his (my) biological posterity should get their own share from the age of 30 years old until the age of 55 years old, or they are no longer alive if this should happen earlier. As reiterated earlier their own share should be given to them yearly or more frequently if the managers feel it is in the best interest of the recipient to do so.
An independent legal firm (team) mutually agreeable to most of the stakeholders must be employed. The legal firm is to ensure the smooth running by the Fund Managers, to ensure that the managers keep to the protocol set out above or not to significantly deviate from it. The legal team should receive not more than 5% of the yearly income of the fund as their renumeration.
INTRODUCTION
As the title states, this book is about letters and quotations.
The letters (and other information) in this book are meant to be read primarily by my posterity who are interested and any other person interested in the book. When reading the letters, I hope, the readers will be pondering in their minds that these were letters written mostly by a mother to her son – her only child – who were living several thousands of miles apart for several to many years. For my posterity, who would be my ancestors, to be aware of this. Throughout the many years my family (my sons, my wife and myself) visited my mum, dad and my in-laws yearly. This continued yearly until we were attacked within a few days of our arrival in my mum’s house by armed robbers, the incident which we later learned was planned from the capital city, Lagos. During the operation one person was killed and several people injured. Since the armed robbery we, continued to travel to see our parents when possible. However, the details of the journeys were haphazard and irregular. And thanks be to God, no further attacks occurred.
The quotations or sayings are meant for the benefit of my posterity especially (or anybody else) to use in shaping their lives.
Some of the letters are in Yoruba language. This is one of the main Nigerian languages. Dialects of the language are spoken in some West African countries, like Benin Republic and Togo. And, as far as I know, the language is also spoken in Brazil and Cuba. Yoruba can also be studied to degree level in the School of Asian and African Studies (SOAS) of University of London. The readers who do not understand the Yoruba language can always seek the assistance of those who understand the language to translate the contents to them.
The letters and quotations will be mounted on forms produced from computer coding. The coding are from visual basic for application (vba) excel which will be in this book. The codings were formulated by myself. If they are deemed too elementary or otherwise, then I apologise profusely for this. The letters and quotations can be read without them appearing on the forms, but it may be difficult for some to decipher the characters. Results of the coding will show the letters arranged according to dates and the quotations arranged alphabetically and any particular one can be found and read with minimal effort. Duplicate or possibly triplicates of the same letter may be noticed by readers, I apologise again for this. A little story about how the duplication came about. When I wanted to shred the letters, I decided to scan them first with appropriate titles. Unfortunately, however, I suffered a catastrophic corruption of my 5TB portable hard disk, on which the letters were scanned. I was able to get software from the internet that allowed me to recover some of the data. They were retrieved in duplicates and in many copies. The titles have been erased and replaced with numbers instead during the retrieval process, so I had to work on what was retrieved, laboriously. This is the reason for the duplication etc. mentioned above. The letters with no dates were labelled as being unknown, probably some of them are part of the dated ones.
So, in this book, you will find the letters in jpg format, details of dates of the letters and unknown if the date on the letters are not known, as I explained above. As well as details of the quotations or sayings and the codings (in vba excel), one set to use in mounting and viewing the letters and the other set to use in viewing the quotations. Some details in setting up the userforms I will provide. However, as the final result of the userform is dependent on the reader or user-dependent, I will leave most of the procedures in achieving them to the reader. The details can be learnt online or getting a programmer to help.
In the letters, my mummy was referred to as Chief (Mrs.) H. O. Ademosu. There is a little story around this, for those who are interested to know. I was born following a romance between my mum and my dad by Caesarean Section in Africa. According to Nigerian culture any woman who has a child automatically becomes a common law partner of the father of the child. My mother later went on to marry a lawyer, a Mr. Ademosu, some years after I was born. My mum never had another child, not for lack of trying to do so. Mr. Ademosu was made a chief (Nlado of Ika). At the same time his wife (my mum) was also made a chief (Iyamok
