Foreword

“It is with great pleasure that I write the Foreword to John’s Ibrox Bears Quiz Book and I am delighted that John and Apex Publishing Limited have kindly agreed to donate £1 from every copy of the book sold to a Charity close to my heart, Motor Neurone Disease Association (Scotland). I spent four wonderful seasons at Rangers, winning the League Championship in my first season at the club. The Rangers fans are among the most loyal supporters in the world and I would personally like to thank them for the wonderful support they gave me during my playing career at Ibrox.
And so to John’s book. This quiz book is a magical trip through the history of one of the greatest football clubs in the world, covering all subjects imaginable, such as: Old Firm clashes, Championship successes, Doubles, Trebles, European glory nights, past managers, history of the club, past players (thankfully I managed to get all the questions about me right!), Rangers legends and much, much more. There are many questions in the book that will please and tease you and no doubt cause the odd dispute or two. However, don’t panic, because all of the answers are at the back of the book.
Just reading the book allows the reader to nip in and out of periods of the club’s history and it is, therefore, so much more than just a quiz book. Packed full of interesting material, you will find yourself wanting to test your knowledge of the club, not to mention the knowledge of your friends, time and time again. This book is a definite must-have for all Rangers fans, regardless of age.
So it is with great pleasure that I recommend to you, The Ibrox Bears Quiz Book and, remember, just by buying the book you are also helping out Motor Neurone Disease Association (Scotland).”

Introduction

It was only by compiling my book that I realised just what a long and glorious history Rangers have had.
Therefore, I hope I have done the Club justice with the style and variety of questions I have compiled for your pleasure. I have tried to capture all of the defining moments throughout the history of the Club in the 150 Sections contained within these pages.
Hopefully, you will enjoy testing your family and friends on the Club as much as I enjoyed making up the questions when I was writing the book. I know no one will know everything there is to know about Rangers and so I only hope that by reading this book you gain a little more knowledge about the Club than you previously had.
As always, I wish to thank all those people who helped me with this Project including Terry Butcher for his superb Foreword; Walter Smith for his support; Chris Cowlin at Apex Publishing Limited for agreeing to publish this book; David Ross at www.scottishleague.net, a superb website that comprises a regularly updated Questions and Answers Page; John Millar, Kirsty Price, my wife, Janice, for checking my questions and answers and her unwavering help and support and, my two sons, Marc and Paul, for making me continually strive to achieve things I never thought were possible.

Yours in Sport,

John DT White
