Preface
This introduction to competition law is a companion guide to the University of Law’s competition law course. As such, it has an emphasis on practical issues relevant to many of the law firms in which our students will qualify. This edition methodically works through the constituent elements of the main competition law prohibitions, covers elements of merger control that are most relevant in practice (including the acquisition of minority interests in UK merger control) and sets out the practical consequences of breach. This edition has also been updated to cover some elements of Brexit, although at the time of writing the future arrangements between the UK and the EU remained unsettled.
The authors
Beatrice Roxburgh formerly practised EU and UK competition law at Linklaters LLP and in-house at BT Group plc, and now teaches at the University of Law.
Meytal McCoy and Stephen Medlock, of Mayer Brown LLP’s Washington office, contributed to the US law sections of the 2020 edition of this textbook.
Contributors to past editions include Mhairi Morter, Trevor Tayleur and Thomas F Bush.
