Description

Once you learn the MEALS process, you will be comfortable writing, like knowing the quadradic question to solve math homework.
The intent of my book is to assist writers of all ages and levels of expertise in improving their skills in discovering the attributes of successful paragraph construction with an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of writing award-winning essays. The most critical component of competitive success is the ability to translate an idea into a comprehensive written report. The MEALS (Main point, Evidence, Analysis, Logic, and synonym), an acronym, is a tool designed to act as a guide to promote ease and excellence in writing endeavors.
During his graduate work, Dr. Elsayess developed a new tool with the acronym MEALS. The MEALS method could assist while creating written works to earn a degree. In addition, using this method could allow students to move ahead with a good competency level for writing. Dr. Elsayess utilized the MEALS tool for assessing his students and developing his book.
Not only did Lovitts (2007) report a high rate of unacceptable dissertations would lead to university dropout, but also, Lovitts (2007) reported that the Council of Graduate Schools indicated that “a 50% student dropout rate, writing the dissertation reported as the major stumbling block.”

Introduction
After reviewing a few English writing textbooks, you would discover that the authors shared a lot of information as a testament to their knowledge regarding writing a paragraph. This book intends to share the knowledge you need to be a good writer. The main goal of this book is to reduce the agony some students feel when faced with the need to write. Dr. Elsayess remembers the feelings of liberation he felt when he first learned to create concise paragraphs. He strongly desires to help others have similar positive experiences about learning to write. Thus, reading and implementing the Master Level Competencies in this volume will help students achieve expertise in writing concise paragraphs successfully. Below are valuable tips to help refine the notion of concise writing:
• Concise writing focuses the student’s thoughts
• Concise writing is a well-defined process, vital for success
• Concise writing results in successful experiences in the classroom and in the marketplace
University level students are expected to have acquired expertise in basic English grammar. A few basic grammar rules, for example are subject-verb agreement, plural versus singular forms, general form of a sentence, passive versus imperative voice of the sentence, and unusual noun forms. The reader must self-evaluate their own level of expertise regarding this and other issues. If a deficiency is discovered, the student must seek out and make use of extra learning opportunities with respect to grammar or any other issue relating to writing paragraphs.
Much free information is available for improving sentence structure. Students lacking in English Grammatical skill will be hindered when it comes to strengthening their ability to create concise, clear, beautiful paragraphs that people want to read. Throughout this book there will be a few other aspects of writing knowledge that will be provided including sentence construction, along with instruction regarding the MEALS method for paragraphs. You may have used other acronyms in the past. We have a novel process and application of the acronym MEALS to provide for you.

Important Note about Student Responses: There are grammatical errors in the student responses that are for the most part retained. We believe that presenting student paragraphs that contain errors shows a more realistic view of what you will see as you look over your own work and the work of others. Our focus (Dr. Elsayess and Dr. Bentch) is to provide instruction so that you are able to construct award winning paragraphs. We will leave to you the importance of resolving your grammatical errors.

Hello Professor,
I would like to take a moment and thank you for such a wonderful class conducted this weekend. I would firstly appreciate your patience in going over each students’ work and correcting us where needed. The concept of MEALS is new to most of us and surely going to help us in the future as well. I learned a lot from this class, especially in improving my writing skills . Not deviating we from the main points and reminding ourselves of the research root cause was a remarkable one.
Thank you.

Hi Dr. Elsayess,
I want to share my opinions about the residence class today. I think your class is very insightful and the knowledge that I have learned from you today will be very useful in the future. At the beginning, our group was confused about the research abstract, but with your explanation about MEALS, we are able understand how to write a meaningful abstract that has a clear main point and focus . I think your class is very practical because we had the opportunities to do the activity as a team, get our abstract reviewed by you, and finally improve our abstract with your constructive feedback. I really appreciate the efforts that you have spent to help us identify and fix our mistakes in our research abstract as well as our other assignments in class. I am very thankful that you have been very patient to help us improve by reviewing our abstract, sentence-by-sentence . The way that you let us read our abstract many times has helped us to have better review and judgement on our abstract as a reader. Your teaching methods are very clear, informative, and easy to understand. I really enjoy your lessons.
Thank you
