Description

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book.
Sample Book Insights:
#1 On June 28, 2015, André Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard had to make the most difficult decision of their lives. They decided to continue with the flight, despite the team’s recommendation to turn around. Five days later, André landed in Hawaii.
#2 The Six Degrees of Connection is a framework that helps you build meaningful partnerships. It consists of six degrees: something bigger, all-in, the ecosystem, magnetic moments, celebration of friction, and collective connections.
#3 The relationships in this book are not the stuff of fairy tales. They are messy and complicated, and they have required patience, acceptance, trust, and hard work. But they have also learned how to gracefully celebrate their differences and navigate conflict because their relationships are firmly anchored in meaningful purpose.
#4 There is no such thing as a perfect, fairy-tale relationship in which nothing ever goes wrong. We must begin by unlearning what we’ve been taught about relationships. Starting in childhood, we are taught to search for our Prince or Princess Charming, with whom we fit like a glove.

Deep Connections are the key to creating meaningful relationships at work. They help you define your purpose, keep you on track when the going gets tough, and in turn, create far more resilient and meaningful relationships.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

In 1964, chemistry professor Frank Sherwood Rowland began the program at the University of California, Irvine. He was building a family and deeply in love with his wife, Joan. They were shocked to find out that chlorofluorocarbons, or CFCs, were the source of catastrophic damage.

#2

In 1974, Sherry and Mario published the first article about CFCs in the scientific journal Nature. They warned that when CFCs reached the stratosphere, ultraviolet radiation from the sun caused them to decompose and release chlorine, which in turn destroyed the ozone layer.

#3

Purpose is the foundation of a flourishing, enduring relationship, and a meaningful life for yourself and others. It is not a stagnant, perfectly packaged end goal. It is an ongoing evolution that takes shape over time.

#4

The Rivonia Trial was the first attempt by the South African government to convict and imprison the anti- apartheid movement’s core leaders. But in the end, the opposite happened. The anti-apartheid heroes were bonded for life by a clear purpose and a deep respect and love for one another.

#5

Archbishop Tutu and his wife, Leah, were able to keep fighting against apartheid because of their Deep Connection. When one was down, the other lifted them back up. They were a force of unconditional love, joy, and compassion.
