Switching Goalsis a 1999 television movie starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Plot Identical twin sisters Sam (Mary-Kate Olsen) and Emma (Ashley Olsen) Stanton both play soccer. Sam is a star athlete and a tomboy; however, the only sports her more stylish sister Emma enjoys are fashion and dating. When their father, one of the league's coaches, is pressured (by his wife) into picking Emma first for his team, another coach picks Sam.But Sam is not thrilled to join a team which hasn't won in years and Emma finds it difficult to please her dad,the coach, so soon after the girls come up with a scheme to switch places in soccer so each can be on the team they prefer. As a result, Sam learns about letting others share the spotlight and Emma becomes a better player. Their mom catches them, and they both have to go back to their original teams. Mrs. Stanton becomes coach of the Buzzards to prove her husband wrong and actually gets the team into the finals. Along the way Emma realizes her skill for playing goalie. At the finals the Hurricanes regular goalie gets injured while blocking a kick and is replaced by Emma. At 20 seconds left Sam kicks the ball into the goal, and it is blocked by Emma, tying the game. The Buzzards and the Hurricanes become co-champions of the Evanston youth soccer league tournament. Both girls also end up getting dates, Sam and Greg, Emma and Richie (the original hurricane goalie).
