Description

In this novel Senator Ryan Wicklow uses a week on Martha’s Vineyard to learn from friends and advisors about the challenges of a campaign for the presidency. Discussions about the Deep State, Media, Big Tech, Unions, Universities and a new Socialist Media Party (SMP) help Ryan make a decision.
In a dramatic scene, the senator informs the editors of the New York Times, the liberal publication of the Democratic Party, about his decision to run and requests unbiased reporting.
As predicted, the Senator Wicklow and his running mate, Senator Nancy DeYoung from Iowa, win in a landslide as the voters hope to end the Recession or micro-Depression in major cities caused by the Socialist government. In the process, the senator highlights China’s attempt to control the nation prior to a takeover.
The new administration is very successful after only six months. One initiative in particular, the Civilian Closure Corps (CCC), is a new organization chartered to close Federal Government departments because they are unnecessary, staffed by disguised unemployment or perform a state’s function.
In the end New York Times issues an apology for its liberal bias for almost two centuries. The editors realize that Wicklow’s conservative Great Reset is really working and is best for America. With tears of joy in his eyes, the new president realizes that he has accomplished the toughest sales on Earth.

HOW ABOUT ME

ON A WARM AND windy Sunday afternoon in late May on the eastern tip of Martha’s Vineyard, the junior senator of Massachusetts, Ryan Wicklow, was in a very reflective mood. The man, who has a striking similarity to a prior senator named Kennedy, was just beginning a 10-day family vacation as he stood on the deck and looked out to blue Atlantic Ocean. After a couple of minutes, he was joined by his father, Warren, a successful, retired Bostonian banker.
“Son, you seem so deep in thought. What’s on your mind? We’re on vacation. We came here to escape the real world.”
“Well, dad, American Socialism is a dismal future. It’s causing this macro Recession and even Depression in some cities, and anyone who criticizes the Administration is called a “racist.”
“But, son, our assets are ample and very safe. We’ll weather this storm and find many good investment opportunities when the economy starts to turn around.”
“Dad, you’re right thanks to your wisdom and smart money moves over a half-century! And, we’re truly fortunate, but…”
“But what?”
“But America needs a new Thomas Jefferson, and I think I’m that guy.”
“Wait a minute, son! Do I understand you correctly that you’re considering running for the presidency?”
“Dad, even the Democrats in the soup kitchen lines are turning against our lost president and her truly incompetent vice president and their whole administration. Throughout history democracies last about 250-years before too many promises go unfulfilled, and they decay into uncontrollable Socialist states. That’s precisely where we’re at today. We’re on the verge of the proud Bald Eagle nesting somewhere else!”
“Ryan, I can see that you’ve given this idea some real thought. Son, I’ll make a deal with you.”
“What’s that?”
“We use this vacation to expose you to the many challenges you would have to overcome to 1) be elected and 2) keep the Ship of State from sinking.”
“OK, Dad. What do you have in mind?”
“The Big-14!”
“What the hell is that?”
“Because of the firmly entrenched Socialist State, there are fourteen powerful entities you would have to overcome, at least neutralize, in order to win the presidency.”
“Dad, I’m all ears. Please explain.”
“Son, I’m talking about eight days of total concentration on the actions necessary to be successful. And, of course, I’ll accept your ultimate decision. But I’ll do so only after you’ve been advised by an expert about each of the adversaries. If you’ll give me a chance, I think I can quickly put together an eight-day program so you can make a decision knowing the odds.”
“Dad, I’m still listening. What do you have in mind?”
“Well, son, each day for the next seven days, we’ll have a focus discussion about two of the fourteen obstacles, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This would give you time to reflect on each of the topics while still enjoying this vacation. With your permission, I would call a few friends to initiate the discussions.”
“Dad, how can I refuse? This is a turning point in my career, and I need real clarity if I’m to answer the question: How about me? It’s a deal.”
“Very well. Now, please join me for a Bloody Mary as I make a few phone calls.”

After the adult beverage, Ryan joined his wife and children on s seashell hunt. Still in the cottage, Banker Wicklow spent a couple of hours on the phone lining up visitors who could advise his son on one or more of the “Big-14.” He was pleased with the response by his friends to provide sage advice based upon real-world experience. One of his advisors was the senior senator from Massachusetts, Francis Werner. This 67-year old has weathered campaigns against incredible odds and could speak with authority about Ryan’s potential battles, particularly those in the “Swamp” called the District of Columbia.

DAY 2

RIGHT ON SCHEDULE AT 10:00 AM the next morning, Mr. Peter Donagal rang the front door bell. Mr. Donogal, a long-time family friend, was a retired director of a classified agency. He was a font of knowledge about the two key subjects planned by the senior Wicklow: Deep State and Government Unions.
“Pete, so glad you could join us in such short notice, my friend,” said Warren as they shook hands and walked up to Ryan. The trio were all smiles as they took places on the leather sofas in front of the fieldstone fireplace, each clutching a mug of black coffee.
“So, Ryan, your dad tells me that you some ambitious career plans.”
“Yes, Pete, that’s true. And dad wants me to have a sanity check prior to making a decision.”
Warren nodded as the two friends met eye to eye.
The senior Wicklow took the cue and began the discussion.
“Pete, I called you first because you have an incredible knowledge about the country’s community of classified agencies known as the “Deep State” by the conservative community. There are 19 entities in the Intelligence Community (IC). It’s been clear to me for many years that America only needs six
