My Definition: Chump - a man who refuses to see you for the amazing woman that you are; a man who is stingy with his love – a real cheapskate!
Step # 1: Look Within For Real Love
Chances are you loved Mr. Chump more than you loved yourself. But here’s the good news: You have the power to flip the script and start loving yourself right now! How often do you cheerlead yourself ? How often do you tell yourself that you are awesome, and that you can accomplish all of your dreams?
In the past, I was my boyfriends’ biggest cheerleader. I lifted them up so high that I dropped my own goals and dreams. I helped them obtain Master’s degrees, write doctoral dissertations, and start their own businesses. While “helping” them realize their happiness, I neglected my own. Maybe you too have forgotten about your dreams in order to make Mr. Chump’s dreams come true. But don’t worry. It is never too late to bring your dreams into reality. The first step is becoming a more positive person.
Morning Mantras – Start off every day with positive mantras:
• I love myself unconditionally.
• I am intelligent, creative, and productive.
• I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.
• I am beautiful inside and out.
• I have natural abilities that I use to help myself and others.
• I am going to make the most of this day and maintain a positive attitude.
• I will accomplish my goals and work daily towards seeing them realized.
• I am fortunate to have loving relationships with my friends and family members.
• I am strong, kind and compassionate with myself, and with others.
Move From Bitterness to Forgiveness
Stop blaming yourself for being with Mr. Chump for so long. Just forgive yourself, then you can truly begin to forgive Mr. Chump and move forward in your life. Forgiveness opens the door to positive growth and change. Instead of focusing on how Mr. Chump hurt you and how he did you wrong, focus on the lessons you learned about yourself while you were in that relationship. To forgive my chumps, I had to examine my own behavior and the personal characteristics I wanted to change. By doing that, I became a stronger and more actualized individual.
Step # 2: No Time to Whine – Believe in Yourself
Now is the time to believe in yourself, your own strengths and your God-given gifts. We all have challenges that we would like to overcome. Once we start believing in ourselves we can overcome anything. Cultivating and maintaining the self-discipline to be positive and believe in ourselves is an important growth strategy. Don’t wait around for him or anyone else to believe in you. Get up, shake off that doubt, and take on a new attitude: “I believe in myself!”
Risks Lead to Rewards
Start taking some chances and step out of your comfort zone. Wonderful things happen in our lives when we make changes, because our hearts and minds are open to new possibilities. We become more open to the possibilities when we venture forth and break out of our routines. When we step out of our comfort zones, we are forced to ask for help. Be humble, be patient and most of all, be compassionate with yourself. We must look beyond the “fence of the familiar,” because the world is truly lovely and amazing!
Step # 3: Be a CAN-DO Person
Face it girl, if you’ve been taking care of him this long, your batteries could do with a full recharge. His negative attitudes and behaviors have been draining you for too long, and now you’re ready for a positive change. Start cultivating positivity all day and every day. Infuse positive rituals in your daily life.
Can-Do Cannons – Recite empowering statements to yourself every day:
• I can change my life and live the life of my dreams.
• I can complete that project that I put down.
• I can be healthier and get in better shape.
• I can become more organized and fulfilled in my life.
• I can attract more positive people in my life.
• I can accomplish every goal and dream in my heart.
Step # 4: Gain More Energy For Yourself
Now that you’re no longer dragging Mr. Chump and his negativity around, you will have more energy for yourself. You remember yourself right? Who were you before Mr. Chump sucked up all your energy? Maybe you were a poet, a writer, a screenwriter, a songwriter, a mathematician, an engineer, an architect, a landscape designer, a horticulturalist, a scientist, an environmentalist, an educator, a chef, or an entrepreneur. Whatever you were before you met Mr. Chump, you were bursting with creativity and potential. Now is the time to get back to you .
Energy Enactors
• Challenge yourself with a new workout routine or a new workout goal : There are few things that feel better than reaching a new level of physical fitness. Give yourself the chance to attain this feeling. You will be so proud of yourself as you reach new levels of strength, agility, and confidence.
• Take on a new project at home : Trying new activities can release your creative spirit. Let your imagination run wild and discover your own hidden talents by painting your apartment, building new bookshelves, or redecorating your bedroom.
• Clean out your closets : There is nothing quite as exhilarating as cleaning your closets and freeing yourself from the clutter of the past. Get some bags together and donate those clothes and shoes that you have not worn in the past two years. Donating these items will make you feel good because you will be doing something to help others in need.
• Get Organized : Is there a room in your home or apartment that you have been “meaning to get to”? Well there’s no time like the present. You can give yourself a new study or exercise room just by clearing out the clutter. Go for it! You will surprise yourself in ways you never imagined!
Step # 5: Project Perseverance
Now that you have gotten back to you , it’s time to pursue those projects you put off because you were giving so much energy to Mr. Chump. Now is the time to actualize and fulfill YOUR dreams. You now have time to reorganize your schedule and prioritize the goals that make you happy. That’s right, it’s time to clean out your desk, your file cabinet, your old notebooks, and start reorganizing those projects that you always wanted to finish. Your mind is clear now. Stick with it...THE SKY IS THE LIMIT!

Forward into your future, to reap what you’re sewing
So set a new goal for yourself and get going!
Actualization Agenda
List specific steps and actions you will take each day to ensure that you are accomplishing your goals. Map out the days during the week when you can work on your project. The trick to effective time management is making the most of every free moment. Start walking with a notebook, notepad, tablet, or use your smart-phone to jot down ideas as they come to you. You will be amazed at how much free time you have while you’re waiting for someone, waiting on line, or just riding public transportation. We all wish there were 48 hours in a day, instead of 24. Sadly there aren’t, so we must make the most of these “pockets of time.”
