The goal of mental fitness is to achieve a healthy mental state through a method that fits each situation, and with clear and specific steps, helps the reader discover where they are, understand how they got there, and what they can do to reach a complete mental well-being. With particular attention to the way in which we feed our mind, the factors that have come to establish certain habits in us, and which often become a block to our intention to improve, are addressed here.
With a simple practice, the reader will be able to notice the benefits in his life through small changes in his daily activities.
Mental Fitness helps those who practice it to more easily achieve their goals in a faster way, and also leaving them more time to dedicate it to the things that they really enjoy doing, and that are more productive than those that made up their old habits.

INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the virtual gym. This is the time in your life when you pay attention to your mind and everything that happens in it. Whatever you find there, hug it, thank it and let it go if it no longer serves you.
It is time to open your eyes and face everything that makes up that part of you that cannot be seen with the naked eye. That intangible part that consolidates your personality, the one that everyone knows, which is undoubtedly charming. But if it is not completely, here you will discover why.
Mental Fitness will help you see clearly everything you like about yourself, but also what you don’t like; through self-observation and other tools you will be able to clearly recognize which skills you have developed in a great way and which ones you need to reinforce, you will also discover how to do it.
This will be an exciting journey towards that date with yourself, with the best version of you. Find out how you can, in 30 days, become the person you want to be!
CHAPTER 1

UNDERSTANDING MENTAL FITNESS
My brother and I used to run a few years ago. We would wake up very early in the morning, before his work and my school, and prepare to execute the part of the athletic program that we had designed ourselves and followed it as closely as we could. We were generally disciplined. That led us to participate in dozens of athletics competitions that were held in the city. We took care of our nutrition, our hours of sleep and even our physical integrity in some other aspects, we kept ourselves warm to avoid colds or any other misfortune that we knew could interfere with our sports program.
In this, as in any other activity that requires discipline, what is built day by day will result in positive outcomes. When something is done in a conscious way, it is planned and the necessary steps are followed that will lead us to achievement of any objective whatever it may be. Those who are familiar with this type of experience will know what I mean. Your goal can be small and short-term, it does not necessarily have to be something that takes you a lifetime to achieve. For example, if you have ever planned a small weekend trip, you will have experienced the intensity of the before and after. You will know that you first created a situation in your mind, you have visualized it and based on that experience that you would like to have, you have planned in the best way that you want to have the next day, week or year.
The results are not always what you expect, in fact, they are never what you expect, sometimes expectations are not met and sometimes expectations fall short or that experience turns out to be much better than we expected. And this happens because life is so changeable and so surprising. It is impossible for you to be able to foresee everything that will happen, if you think about it, that would be too boring. Therein lies the beauty of life.
It is fascinating to see how there are people who are extremely skilled in some physical discipline, such as sports. We all have some predilection towards a certain sport, towards a certain athlete. We enjoy going to the stadium to see how our favorite team unfolds with grace and mastery, win or lose. We never stop admiring those abilities on the athletes that seem to make them gifted. We also enjoy watching them on television, even though the event is taking place on the other side of the planet. We never stop admiring the power of that boxer who has managed to become world champion, or how that tiny gymnast who is capable of contorting herself in such a way that she seems to have total control of each part of her body.
Eventually we realize that no matter what kind of sport that athlete has become a professional at, being an expert requires practice, will, and a lot of discipline.
We all know that it is important to have the talent and the possibility to develop that skill, but what is essential is the discipline to make that practice a habit, and depending on the frequency and strength with which we maintain that habit, our results will be better and take us closer to our dreams of being the best athlete, if that is what we are looking for. It is not just a part-time activity, it is a way of life that will demand of us everything that we can give it, and if we do not give it what it needs, we will not be successful. It is important to take care of our sleep habits, food, and health and become that person we want to be in order to achieve that goal, in this case to be the athlete who becomes the champion.
However, the point that interests us here is to understand fitness. This has been described as the physical state in which one is healthy, practices physical activity regularly, and seeks well-being. To be fit it is not necessary to be the champion athlete, but simply to be in good shape, watch what you eat, and rest well. Some emphasize sports and spend more time in the gym or participate with some regularity in athletics competitions, be it running, swimming or cycling, or a combination of all these; but as I said before, to be in shape it is not necessary to compete or take it to a professional level. You can be completely healthy and give yourself the satisfaction of participating in an athletic event even when it is not always competitive. S ometimes they are just having a good time together by joining the group to walk, or just pushing the stroller with the baby, or even being accompanied by their pet. There are many modalities of these athletic events and with different objectives, not necessarily just for the purpose of competing .
Okay, now let’s get into the subject that we’re really going to talk about here, and that’s what I’ve called Mental Fitness. If we have understood what Physical Fitness is all about, what we talked about in the previous paragraphs, it will be easier for us to become familiar with this new concept. Let’s try to make a mental picture of everything that was said at the beginning about food, rest, physical exercise, and the necessary will to create good habits. Now let’s try to translate that into an image, either of ourselves or of something we think of when we hear about Fitness, perhaps it is the image of an athlete or someone who regularly goes to the gym. Let’s go little by little trying to bring that image to the mental aspect.
Let’s try to transport that concept to the intellectual area. Let’s be careful here, because we will not talk about intellectual geniuses or scholars, I am not referring to those who have the talent or studies to be specialists in some mental discipline such as an expert in the exact sciences or a chess champion. That’s not what I mean, let’s try little by little to define this new concept of Mental Fitness in a very objective way, to understand it better. For this we are going to start by creating an image, as I suggested before, of what fitness is and we will apply it to mental fitness, and it is in this process where we will be able to clarify the definition and have a total understanding of it to the degree that we can apply to our own person. In doing so, we can become someone who is aware of their intellectual faculties and consequently someone who can be, if they wish, an expert in any activity that requires our intellectual application.
