PREFACE

My darkest moments of brain and spinal traumas became my greatest gifts. Life is filled with events we do not expect and that always come with love and at the right time. Longstanding, incredulous depths of pain and sorrow were instrumental in teaching countless lessons. As an enlightened soul and survivor of brain injury, I now realize the missing “me” (that was lost and found) exists in all of you. These life lessons afforded me opportunities of great insight and understanding, which ultimately led to my spiritual awakening. I share my individual story of transformation to offer knowledge and comfort as others are awakening to their own spiritual journeys, gifts and divine life missions. Discovering my “true self” entailed a complete discarding of my old beliefs that no longer served, leading to my search for new truths.
Encountering life-changing injuries, which affected my ability to function within the world, was horrifying but spiritually awakening while each trauma provided greater awareness as my path unfolded into a higher purpose. This sharp contrast between the physical and spiritual worlds was essential to my personal growth and my soul’s consequential evolution. I learned to accept the perceived isolation and loneliness of my world, which launched a deeper understanding of the “oneness with all of creation.” By learning to trust my own intuition I met my “true self” again with a renewed vision and understanding of my life purpose, who I truly am, why I am here and what is the meaning of life .
Illustrated in my first book, My Daze of Brain Injury , are many traumatic experiences and subsequent paths of recovery. The second book, Wake Up! We’re Going Home, is the expanded sequel that details the illuminating culmination of events further enhancing my life. This book is about my inner journey. I chose to embrace love and to grow spiritually in understanding all my traumas, my connection to a Higher Power, my life plan, and to reawaken to the thinning veils of illusionary survival on Earth. The fearful illusion of death was replaced with the hopeful life of self-transformation.
Ultimately this spiritual awakening revealed my soul’s desire to ascend to a higher realm of unity consciousness (the awareness of oneness) with divine love, peace and wisdom, where all is revealed. My prayer in writing my story is to help empower others in finding their inner beauties, their love and truth and the ascension of their hearts in preparation for the journey home.

INTRODUCTION

Quicker than a flash of lightning my life disappeared as an oncoming car crossed the lane and we crashed head-on. Spinning wildly, my brain sheared from the explosive force of the collision, while simultaneously creating this new life form. No one seemed to understand the existence of this new life form or the novel ways of functioning. I didn’t either. Unfortunately the impact of this information was not fully understood for many years. What if our greatest hardships in life are merely blessings in disguise? Within this tragedy was a heart and soul that remained alive and eager for life despite the many ongoing and often demanding challenges.
Fifteen years passed, and after surviving multiple brain and spinal traumas I now appreciate how these life-changing events all played vital roles in my evolving spiritual growth. The purpose of a spiritual path is to learn how to sustain a connection to your own spiritual self, a connection to God. This spiritual path of love is our greatest contribution to humanity. Every lesson in life gives a gift, and the harder the challenge, the greater the gift—if you are willing to do the work. Finding our reward is not easy. More of the details of my prior struggles can be found in my first book, My Daze of Brain Injury . For the remainder of Wake Up! We’re Going Home I would like to share the gifts of wisdom that remain key in fully opening my heart and the highest desire to move my life ahead, especially at this particular time.
I think we all ponder from time to time the perplexing thoughts of who am I, why am I here and what is the meaning of life? Even as a young child many relaxing days were spent looking up and exploring the clouds in wonderment, trying to understand all of creation. A deeper part of me knew of a greater existence along with an acceptance that all would be well.
Are we here on Earth simply to live and to die? I believe that once we incarnate as a soul we begin on a journey as a spirit in a human body. Inherently we all reflect a “goodness” from within with a particular ability to share on our paths and with agreed- upon life purposes. This planned agreement is referred to as a sacred contract .
Within this sacred soul contract agreement we choose the “actors” to help us play out our life script. Through spiritual contracts our soul family (who are often loved ones) plays the many parts for all of us in fulfilling our Earthly human experiences. By our invitation these wonderful teachers provide the “mirrors of truth,” offering us opportunities for healing, enlightenment, transformation and ascension. Physical life on Earth is a blessed occasion of soul expansion and evolvement. These sacred contracts include our parents, siblings, our betrayers, our friends and even our lovers to assist us in experiencing the invaluable lessons for our growth. Sometimes we experience soul recognition of one another and hold memories of shared past life experiences that demonstrate uncanny feelings of familiarity or knowledge.
We also assist many other souls on their journeys. Through this evolutionary path of varying life experiences, the soul advances farther lifetime after lifetime. Imagine this occurrence like a movie that is playing out the many scenes of life culminating with a final curtain call and ultimate life review.
The soul volunteers now alive are pivotal to the ascension of Planet Earth. Our planet and all humans are transforming from a slower and denser third-dimensional existence of duality consciousness to a faster and energetic fifth-dimensional reality of oneness where everything is lovingly connected to everything else.
Duality consciousness encompasses the separate energies of polarity or extremes such as positive and negative, love and fear, winning and losing, right and wrong, good and bad, and reflects how we maintain balance in our world with our thoughts, feelings, words and deeds, whether negative or positive in nature.
Essentially Planet Earth and humans are evolving from a world of separation with fear, struggle and general unhappiness to one of oneness with compassionate love, harmony and fulfillment. In brief, we are a collective group of human beings who are freely awakening (each at his or her own pace) and ascending to a higher realm of life. These third-dimensional to fifth-dimensional reality changes are taking place on Earth now , as you continue to read these words.
The ascension process correlates with the upcoming scientific planetary alignments (the winter solstice sun with the galactic plane occurring on December 21, 2012) and are significant to all of us in the universe.
