Description

This writing comprises thirty-six articles the author wrote primarily during the years 2008 - 2009. The exception being the first article which was written in 2005. These articles are written on a number of different topics for the purpose of enlightening and enlarging the theme of Man and Woman Balance as a metaphysical construct. "Can we now define love? Might we begin with the terms Father and Mother? Or how about Husband and Wife? Procreant balance--(the Omnific term)--and a child, son or daughter, is born. Spiritual procreation--(the Omnific term)--operating everywhere at all times, reflecting back to us the love the resides in our hearts. Two forces, male and female, equal and opposite, dividing and uniting, procreating all the love that exists right now."-- 'I' Will Lift Up Mine Eyes--The 2008 - 2009 Articles

Preface

The following selections were created out of a series of articles I wrote in the later part of 2008 and the beginning of 2009. The exception is the first article that was written in 2005 but was the inspiration to write further articles. As the articles grew in number, I thought of putting them together in a book. The articles themselves are somewhat repetitious in that I was developing and using a central theme in each. Each article comprises a different subject matter although the theme remains the same.
This writing is best used by following the writings in the order listed although for those who want to read an article here or there, that is fine too. It is my hope that together these articles will enlighten and enlarge on the theme of Man and Woman Balance.

The Shift That Is Man and Woman Balance

Thomas S. Kuhn, in hi s ground breaking work , The Struct u r e o f Scien t ific Revo l ut i ons,
1962, speaks of shifts in patterns, models, structures, systems, or orders. Such a shift occurs at the foundati o n of any system and c h anges it in a revolutionary way. T h e change runs from the ground up, all the way through the system. Today, in common parlance, w e may refer to such a sh i f t as a paradigm shift.

Kuhn's book was primarily directed towards scientific pa r a di g m shif t s. Today w e know that such s h ifts occur in every fi e ld o f study. There are s h ifts in phi l os o p h y, rel i gion,
psychology, economics and politics, sexuality, m a rri a g e and family, education, art, h e al th , to name a few. This article is concerned with a shift that has yet to be i d en t ified in a f i e l d of study that is the foundation o f all other f i elds. That f i el d is metaphysics.

Metaph y sics is the fi r st b r anch of ph i los o phy. It was bro u g h t forth by Aristotle as the study of th e fir s t principles o f reality. It fundamentally deals with the basic order t o t hin g s. It has been difficult to st u dy paradigm shifts in metaphysics itself as w e haven't had a fi r st structure t o g o by. But ima g ine i f w e did. If w e had a metaphysical structure w e could view everyt h ing, its posit i on and/or alignment in r e gard to that structure. Now, immediately, this rai s es many quest i ons. How do you know that t he metaphysical structure is thee structure? Maybe it is not ground zero but just another posit i on alo n g the way. We have some epis t emo l ogical ques t ions to deal with here as well concerning the li m itations of knowled g e and the capacity of h u mans to be certain. Ne v ertheless, to understand metaphysi c al parad i gms would be not just a revolution but a n evolution of the human mind.

So where d o we begin ? This is the crux of the whole matter. Ou r beginning poin t becomes our frame. W e are lookin g for an or d er. Order is t he c o nsciousness. It is a singular thing. But to look requires thi n king which is an abstractive p r ocess, identifying a this-as-to- a-that. To iden t ify so m e thing, an yt hing, requi r e s the de l i n e a t ion of s o mething in rela t ion to something else. So the process of consciousness via its thinki n g is a r elatio n al p r ocess. Some may suggest that I am just paraphrasing the dualistic model of the Western world and missing the unit i ve approach of some Eastern p e rsuasions. My response to that is that the order itself is a one but the process of thinking is a two . Think of the two hands of God. In this example, God is the order and the two hands are the cr e ation of things. S c ien c e has told us for centuries t h at every a ct i on h as an equ al and oppo s i te r eac t ion or that eve r y force has a resi s ti v e or counter-fo r ce. An imp o rta n t di s ti n cti o n n eeds to be made here between t h e rep r esen t ation o f something an d the manifest a tion of something. Order i s the repre s en t a t i on; for c e t he manifes t ation, f orce , of course, bei n g a process of two. Let us begin from the fra m e of a o n e order and a two forces .

The first questi o n that may come to mind is, w hat are the s e two for ce s? Can we create a further frame to abstract t his question? Are the forces the same? Well, n o, they must be different. If they were the same there would not be two of them. Are they e qual in necessity to each other or is one gr ea t e r th a n t he other? Just in t h e se few questi o ns we have delineated t wo is su es. One is t hat of diffe r e nce, the ot her equality. Perhaps the more precise te r m for diffe r e nce is opposit i on . This suggests t h at the two forces are polar opposites like sodium and chlorine, for exa m ple. Yet the opposite two are equal. By equal I do not mean they are the same but that they are equally necessary to the relationship. One is not supe r ior to the o t her; the ot h e r not infe ri or to the o n e. They bo t h are equally necessary to the functional i ty o f t heir r elati o nship.

From this model o f two forces, equal but opposi t e, w e can create three metaphysi c al structures. One structure is that o f equal and o ppo s ite. Another s t ruct u r e is that o f opp o site but not eq u al. And lastly, there i s th e structure of equal but not opposi t e. We ha v e a sense of these struc t ures i n our everyday li v es. Think, i f you will, of t he p o lar opposi t es a s being male and fema l e. The struct u r e that h ol d s male and female a s equal and opposite can be called man and w oman balance , the definition o f bal a nce being e x actly that. Man and woman balance as a metaphysical understanding is ne w to the world. The structure that h olds male and fema l e opposite but not equal can be called masculinism . Mascul i nism holds t he se x es distinct but claims one, the male, to be super i or to the female. We ha v e lived under t his structure f o r thousands of years. Th e damage f r o m this structure in terms of l ost lives and souls cannot be calculated. And then there is th e structure of equal bu t not opposit e . This is the struct ur e that holds the se x es equal but does not disti n guish the d i fference of th e two and the corresponding nee d , given that diff e rence, each have f o r the other. For exam p le, w e might hear t o d ay how fath e r s are not r e a l ly necessary fo r th e family. In this case the opposition is not bei n g h o n o r e d . This structure is known by t he name feminis m . Feminism is a fai r ly new structure but is making g r eat st r i des in its influence today. Three structures, o n e is balanced, the other two imbalanced. We can model these structures by some si m ple drawings.

Man and Woman Balance

Structural Imbalance

The a n alysis of these three s tr u ctures has grea t ramificati o ns for our world. We have ide n tified a structure (man and w oman balance) from an abstrac t i o n between o r der a n d force(s) a n d a further delinea t i on b etween e q u ality and o pposition. This new s tru cture actually presents to us a metap h y s ical unders t anding of a l l things. We now have a balance point . The balance poi n t (of equal and opposite) is a meta p hysical g iven and an epistemol o gical cer t ainty. This m e ans it is w hat we have to go with going in if we intend t o acknowle d ge our own exi s ten c e a nd consciousness — a necessary p oint of rationality in our quest for surviva b ility. “But it i s not my e x perience,” o n e proclai m s. “You can't define me,” another shouts. It is too l a te f o r such nonsense. The ab s t ractions have been made.
