ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Down through the years mankind has tried to answer the questions of the ages of their existence through history and theology. History has to be defined in order to know what the expectation of man is.
Theology must be taught in order to understand God’s expectations for man throughout history. The One who created the two, History and Theology, is the One to be reckoned with!
The following is just a simple explanation from a layman’s view:
You can fool some of the people some of the time,
You can fool all of the people some of the time,
But you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. You cannot fool God, any of the time!
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints, and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him whom we shall have to give account
(Hebrews 4:12-13 NIV).” The writing of this book has been in my heart from the day I received Jesus as my Savior in 1970. I can say it is my journey of growing in the faith and knowing Jesus.
We live in troubling times, and I believe we are in a Spiritual war, good versus evil.
A true relationship with our Creator God is the only answer and putting Jesus first in our life.
A MESSAGE FOR THE READER
“Buy the truth and do not sell it, get wisdom, discipline and understanding (Proverbs 23:23 NIV).”
Why write? Any author who attempts to write has a purpose and a reason for that purpose. Knowing why a book is written is essential to understanding what the book is all about. If the reader realizes the purpose, the results will be more appropriately concluded.
The purpose of this book is to see and understand life through the eyes of your heart, searching for truth and eternal life. Making and forming your choices as a foundation of what you will ultimately believe will come from your search. If the reader accepts or rejects the thoughts and ideas of this book, where did that decision come from? How was the decision created and where was it formed? I say it is in the heart, the command center of a person, their heart/brain/mind/soul and I will attempt to prove this. Our decisions are formed in the heart with either a Biblical perspective or earthly understanding. In order to make a wise choice we need the foundation of God’s word versus the world’s claims. For ages people have been like sheep. Sheep are known to be readily distracted, not following the shepherd, myself included. Those who are parents, teachers, authors, preachers, men, and women of influence, are persuasive educators of young and the elderly people of their lifetime. They form opinions and dictate moral values in the lives of many people, whether intended or not, that come out of their wise or unwise heart. The voices of those we place in high regard impact the way we think and act. They may be good intentioned guides, but do we discern what we have received to become wise and righteous, or do we end up like mindless sheep that have gone astray. Do we just take things at face value, or do we study to find out what we are taught and believe to be true? “Truth” does matter and how it is formed in the heart and with which wisdom if applied, makes up our faith and character. The Bible, for Christians, is our guide for truth. “Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth and the life The only way to the Father is through me (John 14:6 NCV).” How we view the Bible, which declares that all issues flow from the heart, affects our outlook on life. “Good people bring good things out of the good stored up in their hearts. But evil people bring evil things out of the evil stored up in their hearts. People speak the things that are in their hearts (Luke 6:45 NCV).”
Whether the Bible is your foundation or not is another issue. It will make a great difference in how you see your destiny. Read on to see if the kind of heart you have will change the way you think, act, and make choices.
You are what you think and read about because that is where your heart is. I hope this book helps you to search for the source of truth through the eyes of your heart as established in the word of God. If nothing else, I hope it will cause you to dig deeper into the Bible, looking for truth, because truth matters. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15 NIV).”
