Description

This is one of the most astonishing books you will ever read, the story of a very special child. Everybody has a gift, but some are more special than others. And perhaps some are more of a curse than a blessing. Imagine growing up seeing the world in a completely different way to everyone you know, in a way that nobody - even your own family - can understand or will even acknowledge... You can see every person's energy field around them, and you can see how it changes as they speak, as they eat... you can even watch their thoughts. You walk down a busy London street, blink, and find yourself in the medieval farm that was once there - and you can converse with the spirits who lived in that time and place. But you can't tell anyone about this. They'll think you're mad. They already call you a freak. So how do you live with your special gift?

Prologue
ï know ï am a baby. ï stare în wonder at my pudgy, dîmped ands awkwardy grabbîng te aîr în ront o me. he warm sun beats down on tem and te cotton sombrero on my ead casts a cîrcuar sadow tat oows me as ï craw towards my moter. ï am rîgtened o îts darkness but te aster ï craw, te aster ît seems to move too. Wîcever dîrectîon ï go în and owever ast, so te round sadow traves too. My moter îs sîttîng on a ow wa borderîng te rear o te garden. Se’s makîng a cîckîng sound wît sometîng se ods în er and. ï stop or a wîe to watc er and enjoy te peasure o te coo awn on my naked knees. Se smîes and ï contînue my awkward journey towards er as se coos at me unînteîgîby. he presence o my moter conuses me sometîmes. Se means ove and saety, yet ï know tat se îs not a ceestîa beîng. ï use te wa to eave myse up înto a standîng posîtîon, groanîng a îtte wît te concentratîon and îmmense efort o te actîon. My ands grîp te brîck to take some weîgt of my weak eg musces. ï’ ave to reearn tîs concept o weîgt. Rîgt now ît’s împortant to dîscover wat my moter’s doîng beore my knees bucke. Se begîns takîng to me în a anguage ï don’t yet understand but ï know te words are dîrected at me because o te îtîng and gente tone se adopts. Se snîps a twîg rom a pant and ï watc as te îtte bubbe around ît turns a dark red. he pant îs angry. My moter gets up to tend to my cryîng sîster but ï contînue to watc te pant. ï can’t ea ît yet wît tîs useess înant body, so ï reac out to touc ît, wîîng ît to gaîn some comort rom my touc. he bubbe îmmedîatey canges rom red to a pae god and ets out a bue streamer rom îts pruned stump, îke a pantom îmb. Strong ands suddeny pîck me up and ï am oîsted over my moter’s souder. ï decîde tat ï reay do not want to be ere.
ï ave aways et îke an îsand în te sea o umanîty. hîs earîest memory o my îe on Eart îs one ï seem to ave kept or good reason. ït îs te exact moment tat ï knew ï was separate to oter peope, tat ï exîsted în armony wît nature rater tan umans; te exact moment ît ît me tat ï was morta and subject to te îmîtatîons - pysîca, emotîona and spîrîtua - tat we a experîence wît eac rebîrt. ït’s a orrîbe reaîsatîon tat you’re agaîn at te mercy o everyone and everytîng, knowîng tat you’ ony be back în saety wen you dîe - and tat can ony be earned by îvîng and earnîng te essons you cose or tîs îe.

Every pace on Eart as îts own unîque vîbratîona energy.
ï ated te ouse rom te moment ï set oot în ît. Peraps ît was te ear tat comes wît begînnîng a new îe and eavîng amîîar terrîtory, but as ï ascended te staîrs one by one, te queasîness în te pît o my bey grew stronger. he sma corrîdor eadîng to my new bedroom seemed to open în ront o me îke a bîg yawn and ï suddeny et an îrratîona ear o beîng swaowed aîve by ît. ï turned around to ceck tat my moter was stî tere. Se wasn’t, but ï coud ear er yeîng orders at Dad to move boxes more careuy. Turnîng back towards te door, ï genty pused te ande down. he door creaked open outwards and dîdn’t stop untî ît banged agaînst te adjacent wa and stuck tere. Sîence oowed and ï stood at te entrance to te room wonderîng î tat was a bad omen o tîngs to come. ï sat on te Loor amongst te neaty abeed boxes tat ad been et tere, and ooked up at te was and ceîîng. Atoug ît was brîgt and sunny outsîde, te room seemed dîngy someow and bubby reLectîons o îgt danced on te suraces around me as î ï were under water. he atmospere was tîck and ï ad te odd eeîng tat tîme ad stopped. ï îstened and watced. he room was sma and cubîc. ït gave te împressîon o beîng a pace were someone coud be orgotten or et to dîe. he pîpes runnîng troug te was made rustrated cangîng noîses and te gossamer curtaîns wîspered as tey danced on te draugt comîng rom te wîndowsî. My room ad a story to te me but ï was too araîd to îsten. Somebody dîed ere, ï tougt to myse as ï sat, anxîous and sîverîng, too scared to ormuate my tougts înto words or ear tat tey mîgt uneas a terrîbe ate onto me.
