DEDICATION
To my parents Arthur & Gibseen, thank you for allowing me to learn and explore life through my own lens. Thank you for your support, for the food and the funds along the way. None of this would be possible without you two.
To my siblings, I love you guys so much. Thank you for giving me the space and grace to grow and for being there for me as I navigate adulthood.
To my friends and family in the GTA and Ottawa, thank you so much for keeping me lifted and for your love during undergrad and now.
To my Orlando family, thank you for the encouragement to step out and believe in myself.
I love you all!

FOREWORD
It’s hard…being a young adult today. “Adulting” as they say, doesn’t come easy. Dear God, It’s Me: Confessions of a College Student is a must-have! The words jump off each page and cause you to either laugh, cry, relate, or surrender. It takes “taboo” topics and brings them to the forefront. You will be transformed in your thinking, challenged in your ways, and pushed into greater! No matter what comes up against you, you can’t stay there. No matter what has tried to stop you, you must keep going. This book, this author, this series is exactly what you need to help you be successful. You are NOT alone! You are NOT the only one who has those thoughts, those trials, those moments of giving up. Allow this book to catapult you into your purpose and your greatness!

INTRODUCTION
My name is Arthurine and this is my story.
I’ve graduated from school more times than I can count at this point, and I can’t say I remember everything I learned inside of the classroom.
What I remember the most though, were the lessons I learned outside of the classroom.
Dear God, It’s Me Volume 1: Confessions of a College Student, is a compilation of hilarious and eye-opening experiences I had during undergrad and graduate school. It’s a devotional journal with stories and opportunities for you to write about what you’re going through and learning during this time in your life. This journal contains devotions, fill in the blank prayers and opportunities to write your own letters to God.
It may be your freshman year, it may be year 6, it may be the gap year, it may be graduate school, or maybe none of the above.
However you identify, I pray that DGIM Vol 1 blesses you in one way or another. Some of these lessons are light-hearted and silly and others are a bit on the heavier side. I pray you will find something here for you. Some of you may resonate with the entire book, some may not and either way that’s okay. My goal is to remind you that even as you navigate life and school, that God loves you and that you’re not alone in your experiences.
Whether you cry tears of laughter from the nonsense, or different kind of tears, I pray you connect with something in this devotional. I am grateful to be able to share the testimony of how I survived this thing called higher education and I wanted to share some of the lessons I wish I knew back then. I pray for peace, prosperity, joy, and completion over every reader.
Whatever you choose to do, whatever path you choose to travel, take care of yourself, and know that in every circumstance, God has your back.
Remember, God loves you and wherever you find yourself, He will surely carry you through.
Much love!
Arthurine D.

WARNING : This book contains sensitive content that can be considered a trigger for some. Before those devotionals, “ TRIGGER WARNING ” will appear before beginning to read.

DEAR GOD, I GOT IN
Psalm 37:5 & 23 NKJV
“ Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass...The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.”
Ah, the first day of school. For some, this is an opportunity for excitement and hope. For others, it most definitely is not. As a kid, I always looked forward to the first day of school after being cooped up in the house for the summer.
I wrote Dear God It’s Me: Confessions of a College Student as an encouragement to you while in school. These are things I wish I had. Going to a college, university, or alternative school, whether at home or far away, can take a toll on anybody. It’s a completely different environment, different schedules, different responsibilities, the list is endless. Even if you did it the year before, each new school cycle brings something different to the table. Whether this is your first go-round with school or maybe year 5 or 6, my hope is that something somewhere in this devotional book helps you to keep going, to hold your head up, and to finish what you’ve already started. I hope the scriptures, stories, and activities keep you encouraged. What you’re doing is not easy. Don’t let anybody kid you. Whatever stage you’re at, I’m proud of you. Period…and that’s on Mary had a little lamb! I pray that DGIM is something you can take with you as you go through your academic journey.
So, today’s journal is a prayer of consecration and dedication of this school year to God. Maybe you got into your dream school, maybe you didn’t. Maybe the COVID-19 pandemic robbed you of the experience you were dreaming of. Regardless of where you find yourself, God is with you, and He wants you to thrive and succeed in everything that you do.

Dear God, it’s me ____________________,
Thank You for getting me in. Thank You for bringing me through this process. Right now, I dedicate this school year to You. Guide my thoughts and my hands as I go through the semester. Add a couple of brain cells if You would, I will definitely need them. Help me to wake up on time for my classes and to be on time with my assignments. Help me to govern myself with wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Be with me as I also explore extra-curricular activities. Show me how to balance my time well. As I commit my ways to You, I ask that You order my steps.
Arthurine’s Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank You for ________________. Be with each student who puts their trust in You. It might be the middle of the semester or a month before it ends when they read this book. Whatever point they’re at, I ask that You bless them. Keep them awake, alive, alert, and enthusiastic. No matter how they’re entering the academic year, I pray that they trust that You will carry them through with a sound mind and heart. Be with ________________ (write your name), give them victory over whatever academic struggles or stresses they may have. Let this be their greatest year yet!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DEAR GOD, DO I REALLY NEED THESE TEXTBOOKS?
Proverbs 1:7 NKJV
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Okay, we all know good and well that these textbooks are way too expensive! Some are so expensive that people look for all sorts of ways to avoid buying them. I have a tip for you. If you can rent your textbooks, it’s a much cheaper option! But let’s get into today’s devotion.
