Description

Ecstatic prophecy is a form of prophecy in which the prophet is completely overtaken by the Holy Spirit--body, soul, and spirit--and prophesies almost as an oracle. In Ecstatic Prophecy, Stacey Campbell, a respected teacher and regular and high-profile recipient of this gift, explains the ins and outs of this remarkable mode of prophecy. She takes readers through biblical and early church examples of ecstatic prophecy and uncovers the history of its occurrence until modern times. She also examines how those with this gift can mature in it, avoid deception by testing spirits, and use this method of prophesying to grow closer to God and to reveal Jesus. This unique book will be compelling to anyone who follows prophetic literature and movements, as well as to those who may be experiencing ecstatic prophecy without understanding it.

Ecstatic Prophecy caught me off guard. I knew it would be good, as both the life and ministry of Wesley and Stacey Campbell have had an impact on me for many years. But little did I realize that what I thought would be a great book for a unique segment of the Body of Christ would actually become a necessary book for the entire Body of Christ.
It is with excitement that I recommend this book, and it is with joy that I await its impact on the Church-and ultimately, the nations.
-from the foreword by Bill Johnson , pastor, Bethel Church, Redding, CA; author, When Heaven Invades Earth and Face to Face with God
For years I have consistently seen Stacey Campbell walk a life in God that is completely open to the present, tangible power of the Holy Spirit, yet profoundly grounded by a fierce love for the proper exegesis and application of the written Word of God and the lessons of Church history. Stacey does not approach this topic as a casual observer of a current fad, but as a disciplined, humble, tenacious servant striving to hear and obey the voice of the living God.

Stacey Campbell is not only a dear friend of mine; she is a true friend of God. Ecstatic Prophecy is an excellent manual of solid biblical teaching, prophetic testimonies and nuggets from lives modeling a deeper devotion to God and fruitfulness flowing from intimacy with Him. This book will challenge you to be more fully possessed by His glorious presence. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will completely consume us until we truly walk in the greater things Jesus is calling us to.

With truth that penetrates and experience that reveals, Stacey and Wesley Campbell have given us a modern-day treatise on varieties of prophetic expression. Paul the apostle said there are varieties of manifestations, and the grounded teaching contained in this book amplifies that reality. We have needed this book for a long time, and it will add weight and credibility to the move of God in our day and in the future.
- James W. and Michal Ann Goll , Encounters Network and Compassion Acts; authors, The Seer , The Prophetic Intercessor , Women on the Frontlines series and many more
Stacey Campbell s book on ecstatic prophecy is very important. Actually, it goes beyond prophecy to ecstatic experience. From Jonathan Edwards to our own day, there have been great defenders of the ecstatic and great detractors. This book will help us make our way through the fog of the debate and provide some solid ground for approaching this important subject.
- Daniel Juster , director, Tikkun International
Ecstatic Prophecy is a powerful read that reveals biblical truth and revelatory insight to everyone who believes that in the last days, the Church will be a prophetic people (see Joel 2:28ff). I highly recommend this book, written by my dear friend and associate Stacey Campbell, who has been used to release the prophetic all over the world.
- Ch Ahn , senior pastor, Harvest Rock Church; president and founder, Harvest International Ministry
I love Stacey Campbell! She is an amazing champion and intimate friend of the Holy Spirit. As a prophet and forerunner, she challenges us to go beyond the ordinary and grasp the extraordinary reality with signs and wonders following. Ecstatic Prophecy is a clarion call and timely book from the arsenal of heaven to mobilize God s army into divine destiny. Stacey masterfully gives great insight into sensitive issues and questions surrounding the gift of ecstatic prophecy. With scriptural clarity, historical evidence, revelation from the Holy Spirit and her own prophetic journey into this unknown vista, Stacey dismantles the stigmas attached to ecstatic prophecy. She also demystifies this often misunderstood gift of the Holy Spirit by eloquently balancing the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.
She has paid the price many times to embrace this gift, often standing alone and being misunderstood and judged, but this has given Stacey the authority to speak into this area and help sort things out for leaders and laity. As the saying goes, A man with experience is not at the mercy of a man with only an argument. As the winds of adversity blow, it has only caused Stacey s roots to grow deeper into the Lord. That is the bottom line of this book: to know and love Jesus and lead others to Him.

I dedicate this book to Wesley, who has been my constant and sometimes my only encouragement to continue prophesying ecstatically. Undoubtedly, without you I would have quit long ago.

F OREWORD
E cstatic Prophecy caught me off guard. I knew it would be good, as both the lives and ministry of Wesley and Stacey Campbell have had an impact on me for many years. But little did I realize that what I thought would be a great book for a unique segment of the Body of Christ actually would become a necessary book for the entire Body of Christ.
I was raised in an environment where the prophetic was both healthy and valued. While horror stories abound from the abuses of the prophetic ministry, I have benefited personally from its being in its rightful place. Errors still exist and in some circles are on the rise. But reaction to error only creates an equally dangerous error. It was God who gave . . . some as prophets, not man (Ephesians 4:11). Sometimes we actually can learn the value of a ministry by seeing how much effort is used by the powers of darkness to distort and defile that ministry. If that is true, then we should have a much higher value for the prophet and the prophetic and become as indignant toward the reaction to error as we are to the error itself.
Stacey s research is so thorough with both biblical and historical support that the reader feels safe approaching a subject that often seems frightening. And herein lies the unusual grace upon this book. While Stacey takes us on a journey that some have even lost their lives over, one feels safe from her sound biblical approach and the unusual gift of wisdom that makes the difficult practical. And while Ecstatic Prophecy is safe through divine wisdom, it is also wonderfully dangerous, creating the divine tension necessary for all who desire to pay any price in honoring God with their whole being.
I pray that this book is read by the extremists, who although they may have an actual call of God on their lives, have distorted it through their own independence and lack of value for the other gifts in the Body of Christ. Perhaps God will use Ecstatic Prophecy to bring them to repentance-and ultimately to a place where their gift brings the strength and encouragement to the people of God that He intended.
I pray that those who have been hurt by the abuses in the prophetic also will read this book. It would then be reasonable to expect the reaction to error to stop. In the process we will recover the use of this essential gift to ensure both purity and strength in the Body of Christ. And those who are presently the walking wounded will no doubt be the first to partake of the refreshing place true ecstatic prophecy has in the Church.
And finally, I pray that those who already have a heart of purity and passion for the prophetic will read this book. Ecstatic Prophecy will provide the necessary instruction and insight to go further with honor and effectiveness. For in this book pe
