Fire Bible for Kids Icons
Beside many of the Bible verses at the top of each page you will see a word symbol. The symbol points you to a note in the Fire Bible for Kids with helpful information about that verse. If you see one of these symbols, simply turn in your Fire Bible for Kids to the Scripture reference and look for the note with that symbol. There are four types of word symbols: GOD S PROMISES. Key verses about God s promises. Memorize them and use them to live for God. POWER-PACKED WORDS. Definitions of key words in the Bible. IDEAS. Awesome ideas about life and facts from the Bible that can help you live for God. Questions and activity suggestions will help you put these ideas into practice. POWER FOR LIFE. These notes give added information about the Bible. They help you understand how the Holy Spirit worked in the past and works in the present to give power to God s people.

YOU RE A MASTERPIECE
Find It in the Bible
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
P SALM 139:13-14
A masterpiece is the best work a craftsperson can produce. For example, Leonardo da Vinci s painting, Mona Lisa, i s considered by most to be a masterpiece. It s the most valuable painting in the world, worth a whopping $760 million.
Know what else is a masterpiece? You! This passage from Psalm 139 explains how. David, the second king of Israel and writer of many of the psalms in the Bible, wrote this psalm as an offering of praise to God. David thanked God for creating him. He knew that as God s creation, a human being is a masterpiece.
Even when you were a tiny unborn baby, you were God s masterpiece, seen only by Him. If you re ever tempted to compare yourself to someone else, remember this: God made you exactly the way you are. That means you re a masterpiece!
A POWER NOTE
Grab a piece of paper and trace the shape of your hand. On each finger, write something great about you. Don t forget to include victories in your life. For example: I m kind to my friends. I can sing. I can run fast. Thank God for making you just the way you are.

GOD IS NUMBER ONE
Find It in the Bible
You shall have no other gods before me.
E XODUS 20:3

H ave you been in a car that uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to help the driver know where to go? A GPS uses signals from multiple satellites to determine the position of the car and to help the driver get where he wants to go. In this way the satellite gives guidance to the driver. But the GPS is only useful to the driver if he turns it on and listens to it and believes it is telling the truth.
From the moment God created Adam and Eve He wanted people to trust Him and to look to Him for guidance. That s why the first of the Ten Commandments tells us not to worship any other gods.
When God gave this commandment to the people of Israel, He wanted them to know that only He could guide and protect them. He wanted them to love Him more than anyone else or anything else. The people in Egypt worshipped gods made of stone and wood. They thought these gods could keep them safe and bring rain from the sky. But this was not possible. There is only one true God who has the power to guide us and care for us.
A POWER NOTE
When we believe in Jesus as our Savior, we have our own GPS (God s Powerful Spirit) to help us and to guide us. Make a paper sign with the letters GPS on it and hang it in your room. It will remind you to depend on the one true God.

GOD S SPECIAL DAY
Find It in the Bible
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
E XODUS 20:8

W hat s your favorite day of the year? Your birthday? Or maybe a holiday like Christmas or Easter? Besides those days, every year has fifty-two special days-one each week. Can you guess which day it is? That special day is Sunday or the Sabbath day. It s not like other days in the week so in some ways it s sort of like a holiday every week!
God wanted the people of Israel to treat Sunday as a special day, so He told them not to work on that day. He wanted them to take time off from their work to rest and to worship Him.
God is our example about how to treat Sunday. He made the world in six days but rested on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2-3). Just think about that. If the mighty God of the universe stopped creating oceans and mountains to rest, surely we need to spend one day in a quiet and restful way. Take some time to think about ways you can make Sundays special. Perhaps you can go to church and Sunday school, and you might take time to read some books that will teach you about Jesus.
A POWER NOTE
If you have a calendar, circle the Sunday of each week. Write the name of one person you will pray for on that day.

THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
Find It in the Bible
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
G ALATIANS 5:22-23

H ow many fruits can you name? Apples, bananas, cherries, oranges, pears, strawberries the list goes on and on! Did you know there s a fruit called the donut peach? It looks like a donut and tastes sweet like a donut but it s not a donut! It s a peach! This kind of peach was first grown in China.
Hundreds of different fruits grow in countries around the world. These are fruits we can see and touch and taste. The Bible describes a different kind of fruit called the fruit of the Spirit. This fruit refers to actions and attitudes that please God, things like kindness and patience.
When our hearts are filled with God s Holy Spirit, He helps us to show love to others. He helps us to be joyful and patient even in difficult situations. When we do these things, other people can see the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.
A POWER NOTE
On a piece of paper, draw nine pieces of fruit. Under each fruit write the name of a fruit of the Spirit. You can trust the Holy Spirit to help you live the fruit of the Spirit each day. He will help you be kind to kids at school or be gentle with your little brother or sister.

DO GOOD INSTEAD
Find It in the Bible
I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it.
P SALM 101:3

T hink about the kids in your class at school. Do you know students who talk when the teacher is talking or say mean things to other students? These students aren t being respectful. When they talk out of turn or bully other students, they re doing what God doesn t like, and that makes Him sad. It also makes other people sad.
Sometimes you may feel tempted to laugh when kids do things that don t show respect. You might even want to join them and make fun of other people. The person who wrote this psalm felt that way, but he didn t join in the bad activities. Instead, he told God that he would ignore what the bad people were doing and wouldn t be a part of it. He chose to turn away from wrong to do what was right.
That was a good choice, and God wants you
