INTRODUCTION

D o you have questions about God? If so, you re not alone. Most of us regularly ponder what God is planning or already has in the works for our lives. Many questions will not be answered until we meet Him face to face in eternity. Oftentimes the answers are not what we expect them to be. However, we do know some concrete truths about God because He s chosen to explain Himself through the Scriptures.
God s Daily Insights for Men was developed to help us have a better understanding of some of the questions that make us wonder what it is that God is doing in us. As you read through each devotion and Scripture, ask God to equip you and to help you take hold of the answers and establish them in your own heart. While you read, absorb, and embrace God s answers, take a moment to write down daily reflections and affirmations. Doing this will help you gain ownership of what you have just learned.
Through these readings, the hope is that you will be well on your way to discovering God s truths that lead to the faithfulness of His promises for your life.
NEW BEGINNINGS
G od promised that He will transform us when we become part of His family. He will do a new thing in us, and He will continue to bring forth change that will be for our good and His highest glory.
God is able to make rivers spring forth in the desert. If He can do that, He can be trusted to cover the messes we made in our past-and supply everything we need for a bright, new future. That s the kind of God He is. He is the One who can take broken, worn-out, dusty, or failed experiences and plant a beautiful garden.
If we want to experience all that He has for us, we must begin with the simple belief that He loves us and wants to do something special in us-no matter what has transpired up to this very moment. One of the ways you show that belief is by seeking His will for your life, trusting Him for His wisdom to help you make right choices and go in the right direction.
Ready for a fresh start? A new start? Turn to God. You can trust Him to guide you to a brand-new beginning!
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland .
I SAIAH 43:18-19
PATIENTLY WAITING
W aiting is difficult-crawling behind a car that is going well below the speed limit in a no-passing zone, tapping your foot in line at the coffee shop as someone scrounges up exact change, anxiously waiting for the mailman so you can get your hands on that check that was promised weeks ago, and of course, trying to keep a great attitude in church on the very Sunday you planned to meet friends for lunch at 12:30 and your pastor decides to include next week s sermon in with this week s. Maybe the toughest waiting is when we ask God for direction on an important life decision.
No, waiting is not easy. But God tells us to wait patiently for Him-His choices, His answers, His news, His guidance, His perfect spouse for us, His desire for our vocation, His love, and yes, even His coming again. Waiting patiently means trusting God knows what is best for us because we are His children. God wants us to wait for Him because when we acknowledge Him in all our decisions, we truly begin to walk in wisdom.
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long .
P SALM 25:5
GOD S STRENGTH
I t s true that God is mighty, that He can do anything. And yet Scripture also tells us that God often uses humble means of exercising His power. In 2 Corinthians 4:7, Paul wrote that God can use imperfect people to do His will: We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us ( NKJV ). And Jesus taught us that if we want to be great, we must serve. Philippians 2:7 tells us that Jesus Himself made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond-servant, and coming in the likeness of men ( NKJV ).
So if you re feeling not-so-powerful or unsure of what contributions you can make, take heart. God in you is more powerful than you could ever be on your own, and He has prepared great things for you to do.
That is why, for Christ s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong .
2 C ORINTHIANS 12:10
THE SECOND BIRTH
T hink about it: You can be made new! Even if you have failed in business. Even if you have experienced broken relationships. Even if you turned your back on God and did exactly what you wanted to do-even though you knew those things were wrong.
