Dedication andAcknowledgements

Iwould like to give credit, tribute, and, thanks, to the late Dr. David L.Cummins for the acrostic, definitions, and Scripture references which are atthe heart of this book. On March 20, 1980, Dr. David Cummins, DeputationDirector of Baptist World Mission, gave the students at Maranatha Baptist BibleCollege (Maranatha Baptist University), a comparison of the Arminian(A.S.T.E.R.), Calvinist (T.U.L.I.P.), and Baptist (L.O.T.U.S.) positionsin an acrostic form. In May 1995, at Manor Baptist Church, in San Leandro,Calif., I gave a series of five lessons based on that acrostic form. I laterput those lessons on the web. The L.O.T.U.S. position that Dr. David L. Cumminsintroduced has opened my eyes to the difficult theology that Calvinismpresents. Many Christians believe Calvinism, but in practice the results arewhat the L.O.T.U.S. position is, which is evangelism to the lost. WhenChristians reach out to the lost, the lost hear, respond, believe with theirhearts, and their changed lives are the proof of God’s promise of eternal life,manifested by the Holy Spirit given to each one.
AndI would like to thank my wife (Theresa) for her patience and editing during thewriting of this book.
Preface

This book describes God’s intended plan (from the very beginning of mankind) for everyperson, which is eternal life.Jesus paid sin’s penalty of death (separationfrom God - spiritual death) with His blood sacrifice on the cross for each andevery person, and thus offers eternal salvation to each and every person.
I previously published abook, Steps of Salvation . This book describes the chronological steps aperson will go through before that person is saved. After publishing the book,I realized that the book was actually an evangelistic outreach for lost souls.It instructs the sinner of the history, penalty, and solution of sin in aperson’s life. And, it challenges the saved person to tell the Gospel messageto lost souls. The book, Steps of Salvation , develops the chronologicalsteps in Scripture is a truth never published before, as far as the authorknows. Steps of Salvation describes the process of the New Birth thatJesus told to Nicodemus, you must be born again.
Note, the Hebrew andGreek definitions are from Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance.
This book is apresentation of God’s promise, the assurance of salvation, and, reveals thecore of the issues of the false teachings of Arminianism and Calvinism.
The Author hopes thatthis book will be a help to Pastors (who have lost, or could lose, churchmembers to the theology of Calvinism) and, to Christians who have been affectedby Arminianism or Calvinism.

Introduction

Tworeligious groups in Jesus’ day thought they held the true belief in God. ThePharisees had a strict obedience to the law (the Old Testament), and the Sadduceesdid not believe in the resurrection. Both were prominent systems of belief, yetboth were rebuked by Jesus.
ThePharisees were rebuked by Jesus in Luke 11:39, “…your inward part is full ofravening and wickedness.”
TheSadducees were rebuked by Jesus in Mark 12:24, “Do ye not therefore err,because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?”
Similarly,today’s two main systems of beliefs, Arminianism and Calvinism voidwhat God has promised even though these philosophies quote the Bible. Theteachings of Arminianism and Calvinism are not what God intended or taught.
Arminianismwill give a person an uncertainty of eternal salvation, because it teaches thateven though Jesus had been received as their Savior, he/she could lose theirsalvation.
Calvinismwill give a person a lack of responsibility to tell their fellow man theGospel.
Thebeliefs of Arminianism and Calvinism are shortened into five major points, and forease of remembering them, they are in an acrostic form, resembling the name offlowers ;

Arminianism- ASTER
Calvinism- TULIP
Biblical position -LOTUS

This presentationreveals t he core (the very root) fallacies of Arminianism and Calvinism,which question God’s integrity and His desire for mankind.
TheBible states that the peace (assurance) of salvation is guaranteed to everyborn again believer. And that God’s intention is to see lost souls choosesalvation.

Forthose who hold the Arminian or the Calvinist Theologies;
When any personquotes the verse, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begottenSon, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but haveeverlasting life.”(John 3:16), can that person honestly, from the pulpit, orindividually, make the following statement to any person? “ Jesus Christ diedfor YOU, and salvation is offered to YOU through Jesus Christ! ”

The Arminianist cannot make that statement, because Arminianism teaches Jesusdied only for those God foreknows [1] will be saved. The preacher, or person, who makes that statement does not knowif that person he is talking to is the one who God foreknows will believe.
The Calvinist cannot make that statement, because Calvinism teaches thatonly the pre-selected can be saved, and only God knows who they are, and thepreacher does not know if that person has been pre-selected.
Ifthe Calvinist , or, the Arminianist makes the statement, “ JesusChrist died for YOU, and salvation is offered to YOU through Jesus Christ ,”t o any person or group, and holds to their beliefs, they are lying,because their philosophies have the restrictions of limiting Jesus’ bloodsacrifice payment to only saved people. The author will give credit to theArminianist philosophy that salvation is offered to all, but their restrictionis that Jesus died for only the saved.
Thisbook explains the Biblical position that YOU can honestly proclaim toany and every person, or group;

JesusChrist died for YOU, and salvation is offered to YOU through Jesus Christ!”“YOU can be saved, it is YOUR choice!”

Tothe Arminianist, God says:
Youcan know YOU are saved forever! God’s Word promises the security of thebeliever.
InEphesians 1:12-14 is the description of the chronological steps of how a personis saved forever!

“Thatwe should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Inwhom ye also trusted [with the intellect], after that ye heardthe word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed [with the heart, the very soul of a person], ye were sealed [forever]with that Holy Spirit of promise,
Whichis the earnest [down payment] of our inheritance until the redemption ofthe purchased possession [at death], unto the praise of his glory.”
Ephesians 1:12-14

To the Calvinist,God says:
The Pharisees, areligious group in the New Testament, through their writings, made null, andvoid the commandment of giving honor to their parents. The Pharisees would telltheir parents that since they are a gift to God and belong to God, they did nothave to take care of them anymore. Their writings made void the Word of Godgiven to Moses, and, Jesus reprimanded them;
“But he answeredand said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by yourtradition?
For God commanded,saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother,let him die the death.
But ye say,Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother , It is agift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
And honour not hisfather or his mother, he shall be free . Thus have ye made thecommandment of God of none effect by your tradition. ”
Matthew15:3-20

So likewise,Calvinists, by their writings, void what God originally intended.
Calvinists believethat God creates a few people to be saved, and the rest of the people arecreated to go to hell, without any possibility of ever being saved. Their philosophykills off the multitudes of people by pre-selecting them to go to hell, beforethey are even born!

This voids thepromise of offering eternal life to every person,

“ In hope of eternal life, whichGod, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; ”
Titus1:2

So, Calvinists, bytheir writings, void what God origina
