The Jesus-Hearted Woman: 10 Leadership Qualities for Enduring & Endearing Influence is now on my highly-recommended list of leadership books for both experienced and emerging leaders. A gifted and skilled writer, Jodi Detrick masterfully weaves great literature, personal and biblical narratives, and insights drawn from her reflections on some of the best writing blended with her own unexpected journey in leadership. Her concluding coaching questions, scriptural passages, and little lessons for new leaders at the end of each chapter provide a great opportunity to pause and reflect on how to embody each of the ten leadership qualities she presents. This is a great book for both men and women!

This book is dedicated to my kind, courageous, and adventuresome mother, Louise Lankford Dunlap, the first Jesus-hearted woman in my life and still one of the most remarkable. Thanks for your life-long example of “doing what you can where you are” and for passing on the writing bug to your baby girl!
It is also dedicated to my amazing, wise, and loving husband, Don, who has never stopped encouraging me to fulfill the extraordinary dreams Jesus put in this ordinary heart. Each season with you is the best. Yours is truly the most enduring, and endearing, influence in my life.
And finally it is dedicated to my precious offspring, Kristi, Mark, and Jana, who (along with their wonderful spouses and precious kids) have been my most constant supporters on this long journey. You top the list of reasons why I want to be a Jesus-hearted woman.

FOREWORD

I remember how nervous I felt. New to ministry and just a few years into my twenties, I had a passion to minister to women that just wouldn’t go away. Sometimes in church, as I listened to sermons or sat in Bible studies, I felt as if I would burst with the “fire shut up in my bones” (Jer. 20:9). But God didn’t open doors for that kind of ministry, and He wouldn’t allow me to pursue opportunities on my own. For the most part, I was okay with that.
