FOLLOW GOD’S WILL

SEEK THE TRUTH
The human heart plans the way,
but the LORD directs the steps.
—Proverbs 16:9 (NABRE)
GROW AS A DISCIPLE
God has a plan for all of us. We know, He desires our undivided love and wants a personal relationship with us. When we commit to following our heavenly Father’s will, we realize His timing is perfect. God’s agenda holds plans for our lives that are greater than we can imagine.
If you strive to utilize your time better, work to become more obedient to God, practice what He desires, and worship Him in prayer. Before making decisions that require a huge commitment, present your ideas to God first. Diving into a plan that God doesn’t want for your life will cause you to waste time and energy.
When you live unfocused without a meaningful relationship with God, you will become overly ambitious and labor heavily to pursue your aspirations. Unfortunately, this will result in outcomes reflective of your will instead of God’s will. As you work up the courage to discern what God desires for your life, take time to sit and pray on it. Once you draw near to God, your steps will have divine direction.
REFLECT AND CONNECT
Inquire about the purpose God has placed on your life. Once you’ve asked questions to ensure you’re on the right track, take a moment to reflect on your thoughts as they pass through your mind. Through active exploration, take some time to see where God leads you.

SEEK THE TRUTH
For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD —plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.
—Jeremiah 29:11 (NABRE)
GROW AS A DISCIPLE
The goodness of God is greater than we can imagine. Our visions will always be smaller than His. When heavy hearts feel the stress of life’s desires, much emphasis is placed on planning or the lack thereof. Plans can dictate the course of both personal and professional trajectories. When making plans, let God set the tempo. As we breathe fresh air and speak life into our prayers, the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon us to direct our thoughts and intentions so we can stand strong and feel God’s love.
Knowing we can do all things through Christ, authorizes us to identity as His followers. When we understand our lives are planned with a divine purpose, we can be living examples of the sons and daughters of God to others and work to yield results to help grow our heavenly Father’s Kingdom.
God has made us resilient so we can demonstrate an attitude of perseverance. When the heavens oversee our failures, we’re able to labor for the duration with God-given grit. Therefore, we know, in every trial we face, God is with us.
REFLECT AND CONNECT
When life becomes overwhelming, how can you continue putting your best faith forward?

SEEK THE TRUTH
In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” And the angel said to her in reply, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God.” Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
—Luke 1:26–38 (NABRE)
GROW AS A DISCIPLE
The Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, was chosen to complete an important mission. In this sacred scripture message, an angel informs Mary that through the Holy Spirit, Jesus will be conceived in her womb, and she is the one who will carry and deliver our Lord and Savior into the world. Initially, Mary’s emotions cause her to be afraid of the angel’s message. Once Mary’s convictions take over, she knows what she must do. In the end, Mary accepts God’s will, and in a dignified way agrees to what has been asked of her. Mary understands that there is nothing to worry about, and nothing will go wrong, as she’s obedient to her calling and filled fully with God’s grace.
REFLECT AND CONNECT
We learn that Mary has full trust in God and gracefully accepts what she has been called upon to do.
Think of a time you fulfilled a promise that God placed in your heart.
How did you feel when carrying out what God asked you to do?

SEEK THE TRUTH
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us;
upon his shoulder dominion rests.
They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero,
Father-Forever, Prince of Peace.
His dominion is vast
and forever peaceful,
Upon David’s throne, and over his kingdom,
which he confirms and sustains
By judgment and justice,
both now and forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this!
—Isaiah 9:5–6 (NABRE)
GROW AS A DISCIPLE
Hope is instantly born as we tune into this sacred scripture message. In the Old Testament, we learn the appointed kings struggled to reign the way God intended. Mary is the vessel responsible for bringing our Savior into the world. The greatest king of all is coming to save us. It is through Christ we can receive peace and be rescued from our sins. Shouldering the weight of all burdens, Jesus was born to rise to the challenge of confronting inequities to shine a light on what it takes to achie
