Do not waste another second, minute, or hour of your life stopping at physical, emotional, or cognitive barriers that undermine your purposeful life.
This book will provide you with tools to quickly recognize barriers and how to keep it moving to walk over, around or under these barriers so you can live your best life!
DEDICATION
I dedicate this book to my heavenly parents, David, and Renee Bluford, who taught me the philosophy of keeping it moving. My husband, Stuart, is a calming force when I need to keep it moving. My three children, Chadwick, Camille, and Christina and grandson Chadwick Jr. have walked the journey of keeping it moving through successes and adversity. They are all inspirations to me beyond measure. Their love and strength propel me to keep it moving for my lifetime.
ACKNOWLEDGE
I want to recognize Fr. Donald Heet for helping me to navigate my spiritual goals of balanced well-being. He has given me insight to continue to achieve God’s journey for me to keep people moving forward to internal peace, love, and belonging. I want to acknowledge Dr. Thomas Monteiro, who is like a dad to me and a guiding force of love, acceptance, validation, peace, and a steady spirit. Marlene Alexander, my California mother, helped me grow as a woman and wife through my 20s to 30s. I appreciate my sisters Pamela and Penny, who make up the three “P”s; no matter what, we always come to conclusions of unity and Brittany who is an outstanding mother to my grandson.
INTRODUCTION
These meditations include philosophy, wellness, and spirituality narratives. Use this book to walk in your truth and fulfill the instructions of your soul. The reflections are in chapters like the chapters of our life.
Clients, colleagues, and counseling students inspired this book by asking me to repeat words of philosophy and meditations I had just imparted to them. It would be hard to capture the same essence again when they asked me to repeat my comments. So, I started to record these words of wisdom on a notepad.
I accumulated multiple quotes and notepads, so I put the most memorable quotes in a book. We experience a range of emotions daily, whether mindful of them or not. We stream through positive, negative, and neutral energy experiences daily. Emotions and psychological well-being are indicators of how we navigate our experiences and relationships on the earth and how we cope with these encounters. Our DNA plays a part in how we manage these encounters.
Likewise, our environments and relationships generate positive, negative, and neutral emotional and cognitive responses. This book helps people to navigate their lives and achieve their hopes, dreams, and goals despite their past development or current state.
Free your mind and open yourself up to new possibilities. Walk through life mindful of valid frameworks which develop your purpose and soul. Positive energy, faith, balance, and peace represent your destined pathways. So, seek positive narratives and keep it moving.
PROLOGUE
As a child, I was always open to the lived stories and insights of my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and elders. I listened because I respected them, and I knew they loved me. I did not realize that one day their words of wisdom would benefit the challenges I would encounter. I needed to understand how these nuggets of information would build my resiliency based on their lived experiences.
It is better to build resiliency by understanding other people’s experiences instead of suffering the same fate. Learning from your own lived experience without guidance from others can create a perspective of unnecessary pain and suffering.
Empathic listening and knowledge gained from the lived experience of others builds sustainability without being exposed to those experiences yourself. Your time on earth is limited based on years and the encounters with people you can experience. However, you can put a multiplier on the understanding of life if you gain knowledge from others.
Take advantage of learning from other people and build your durability from their experiences. It is better to learn from others who can impart lived experiences, adaptability gained, and brackets for problems in the future. Therefore, keep your mind open to the learned perspective of others.
The people who I learned from the most are my mother and father. My parents lived experiences developed resiliency garnered from their belief in their independence to thrive. They were self-made in many respects and did not entertain barriers for themselves or others. They did not let health, a lack of bestowed generational wealth or a guidebook for career success hold them behind a wall of hopelessness. Instead, they leaned into their own learned experiences, which developed resiliency and led to their individualized and collective success.
My mother and father (David and Renee Bluford) kept it moving and did not let anything external to their belief system or barriers stop them. They demonstrated faith on the path to their goals, and they were able to arrive at their destiny with room to help others.
The multifaceted generosity of their time, money, wisdom, guidance, optimism, strength, and abounding hope spilled to their daughters and the community in Queens, New York.
Their strength proves that if you have hope to transcend your challenging episodes in life, you will develop strong shoulders to overcome complex life events to help yourself and others to realize a fulfilled and fruitful life.
Keep it moving, learn through resiliency, and live your optimized life with a greater perspective of inner purpose which teaches us about hope and creating the life we desire.
