About the Author
INTRODUCTION
This Study Guide for the Lifestyle of a Disciple is a model of the “Vision” of the “Great Commission” Matthew 28:18-20, that Jesus gave His disciples before His final ascension. The Vision for this Study Guide reads as follows:
“Find the Lost Disciple the Found Send the Disciples”
As The Way the Truth and The Life, John 14:6, Jesus modeled and demonstrated the Kingdom Way and development of a strong and healthy church. This Study Guide contains the Truth of Scripture leading to a Life in the Spirit. It has been said that Discipleship is “Caught not Taught” and experienced through the Love and Relationship with Jesus Christ.
THE PREPARATION-THE CONNECT
Discipleship Preparation Team- Pray
“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’”
Matthew 9:37-38
In this passage of Scripture, Jesus gives us three ways to reach the lost: praying, sending, and going. The one command is “pray earnestly.” It’s one word in the original; it has the connotation of pleading for something. We all have the responsibility to plead for the lost, praying specifically that the Lord would send out workers to reap a harvest of lost souls. They are there ready to be “reaped.”
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:2
In this passage of Scripture, Paul introduces himself, then recaps Timothy’s path to becoming a minister. He reminds Timothy of how his family brought him up in the faith, and then how Timothy served faithfully with Paul in the past. Paul then focuses on two primary ideas. First, that Timothy’s background in the faith should give him the courage to stand fast against hard times. Second, that Timothy should use that courage to defend the truth of the gospel message. Paul will use these points and examples as the foundation for the rest of his letter.

The Discipleship Demonstration
Discipleship is modeling and demonstrating the same kind of love Jesus used to build eternal relationships with his disciples. His example promotes and increases discipline that bridges the generational gaps and models of kingdom leadership. The primary focus and result of this pattern being the multiplication and duplication of a disciple. This lifestyle is the foundation of preparation and activation of growth that strengthens the Church, the Body of Christ. Disciple making is the generational ministry that ultimately leads to a Lifestyle of Discipline. True Discipleship is caught not taught.
The Demonstration
1. Demonstrate the model that Jesus built trust and develop the relationship.
2. Teach and bring forth the training and instruction through the relationship.
3. Lead to build and create the future leaders for the future church.
WHAT IS A DISCIPLE?
The English term “disciple” comes from the Latin term “discipulus” which means “pupil.” However, to fully understand the biblical concept of “disciple, one needs to understand the four Greek word groups that are associated with discipleship: “akoloutheō,” “mathētēs,” “mimeomai” and the preposition “opisō.” While this article examines each word by itself, they are often found in combination with each other.
