Description

The news headlines from the war-torn Middle East are constantly changing, and though those countries are on the opposite side of the globe, the events unfolding there have a powerful effect on America. But the complexity of all that's happening makes it difficult to understand what it means and how it affects us. Authors John Ankerberg and Dillon Burroughs help bring clarity to the issues as they answer these important questions: Why does peace continue to elude the Arab nations and Israel? What part does Middle East oil have in all this? Where do Iran, Lebanon, and Hezbollah fit into the big picture? What can we expect from today's new breed of terrorists? What does the United States have at stake? Readers who have perceived the Middle East conflict as too complicated to understand will gain a new appreciation for how today's events fits into God's plan for the future.

A plot against airlines. Osama bin Laden at large. Iraq in flames. Five years aer 9/, are we any safer?
e week following the foiled London-airline terror plot,News-week’s cover posed the following key question:Are we any safer? In the years since /, our world has changed dramatically. We now live in a new world where the terrorist actions of religious zealots have become the norm. Today Wall Street finds itself surrounded by ocers with machine guns, airlines inspect passengers’ shoes for fear of shoe bombs, and passengers have even been required to throw away bottled water as a potential safety threat. CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, and the major networks daily update us on the most recent terror threats. Is the threat level yellow or orange today? How early will I need to arrive at the airport? Who was bombed this time? Nearly every day a new flight security alert hits the airwaves. One recent CBS newscast began with the shocking headline of not one, butseven, airline security scares in one day:
A tense day Friday in the air with seven security scares in planes. Among the incidents, a Connecticut college student now faces federal charges aer a bomb-sning dog found a stick of dynamite in his luggage in Houston. Ocials say it was not an act of terrorism.

On a US Airways flight a man was subdued by a federal air marshal and the jet was forced to land in Oklahoma City. And a flight from New York to Dublin was evacuated in 2 Western Ireland because of a bomb threat.
We care for our children, our spouse, our friends, and our fami-lies. We long for a time of peace. Yet today’s headlines reveal we live in an increasingly chaotic world. e most-discussed articles at Newsweek.com during a recent week included: • Are ese the End Times? • How Bush Makes Enemies • Why the U.S. Is Letting Lebanon Bleed
Not very encouraging, is it? In addition to acts of terror at home, we continue to face civil strife in Iraq, battles on both sides of Israel, a defiant Iran at work toward nuclear weapons, nuclear threats from North Korea, and a growing worldwide resentment toward the United States. Politicians argue, religious leaders warn that Armageddon is near, corporate leaders worry about the changing economy, and the everyday person seeks answers to what is happening on the world scene today. Ultimately, many of us simply want to know,Will it ever be the same again? While this book will touch on many of the political and economic factors at play in the War on Terror, its primary emphasis isspiritual. While that may not seem all that urgent or newsworthy, in actuality, it is. In fact, there are five reasons we believeeveryperson should read this book today:
1.Youneedtoknowwhypahsitcinocs.ngntipieh Few people truly understand the nature of the Middle East con-flict behind the acts of terror at Ground Zero and beyond. Even our top intelligence and military leaders have frequently underestimated the religious convictions that are driving the evil regimes of our world. For instance, did you know that the recent threat to destroy Chicago’s Sears Tower originated from a religious movement called
