This is a first-time publication for Joyce, whose desire was to publish some of her notes before her milestone birthday (see Psalm 90:10). [And God gave her the desire of her heart – Psalm 37:4].
Her main desire though is that this writing will help kickstart someone seeking to know Jesus Christ for themselves; or to boost those who may have relaxed their biblical studying. She is prayerful and hopeful that all will continue in their Christian walk and follow God throughout their lifetime, so their path will leave a Christian legacy footprint for future generations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Joyce grew up in a Christian environment. Her great grandparents were Presbyterian Elders and Ministers and several of her great uncles were Gospel Quartet Singers.
She was influenced early in life to follow God while attending church, and also listening to her uncles singing. One of her favorite songs was ‘Jesus Be a Fence Around Me’ (actually, she thought they were singing, Jesus build a fence around me, and that was ok, too). She learned that Jesus was a Friend and a Protector.
Prayer and discipline were allowed in schools ‘back in her day’ and Bible was an elective course. She still cherishes the New Testament Bible she earned for learning and reciting scripture to ‘The Bible Man’, who came to the school, maybe monthly.
Perfect attendance (she has 10 years’ certificates) and being on time were values instilled in her early in life, which she still values and upholds today.
She is thankful for a former Manager who saw her potential early in her work career and selected her for a position, which based on her credentials, she would not have qualified. She worked faithfully in that role over 15 years and was also allowed to ‘telecommute’ (work from home) in the late 90s, which was virtually unheard of then - the favor of God!
Her advice is to seek God early and to seek God often, but to never stop seeking Him.
INSPIRATION/ ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Everyone seems to be in a hurry these days, so hopefully the Biblical nuggets are just the ‘fast food’ needed to provide some quick, go-to nourishment for your soul.
I studied shorthand in high school (decades ago), but God continues to allow me to write and decipher my notes, no matter how old, cold or faded. I’ve always taken very detailed notes in church and often said I wanted to write a book one day and parallel the notes with my life events, but God led me to this instead, or first.
The nuggets are not intended to re-write anyone’s sermon, but to highlight a quick point that stood out for me and a scripture for easy reference.
Majority of these nuggets are inspired by Pastor Cyrus C. Tilghman, Jr., who teaches the word of God twice weekly on Peace of the Rock Ministry. I have known Pastor Cyrus since elementary school and God allowed our paths to cross again in adult life at church. I am grateful to God for speaking through Pastor Cyrus with his words of wisdom and Biblical insight. He often says “I tell it like it ‘tis.” As God gives it to him, he relays it to us in such a practical, relatable way, using everyday language, always backed up with scripture.
Pastor Cyrus was also my accountability partner, who nudged me along to complete what I committed many years earlier. (Everyone needs someone to whom they are accountable). He didn’t know (because I didn’t) that God would lead me to write from his messages first.
Perhaps many of the inspirational sayings and verses will speak to your souls and provide some much-needed, nutritional nourishment to feast on in the days, weeks, months and years to come, as you study God’s word.
 

Pastor Cyrus C. Tilghman, Jr. is former Associate Pastor at Abundant Life Church of God. He and his wife Regina currently reside in Charlotte, NC.
Not only did God call Pastor Cyrus into the pulpit ministry, He also directed him to work over 25 years at a position for which he had no formal education or training. As I recall Pastor Cyrus saying, if it’s something that you can do easily, that’s a gift from God. Pastor Cyrus is a gifted, certified Foam Chemist.
Unlike myself who loudly proclaim that I am retired, Pastor Cyrus humbly says that he is semi-retired, as he will readily contract himself out, pack some bags and head back to New Zealand, Australia, Texas, Georgia, the Carolinas, or wherever he’s needed to advise companies on this very specialized line of business that God so ordained just for him.
