 oug times. We all ave tem. Peraps you are in T one of tose times rigt now. It’s often wen we need God most tat we find it ard to talk wit Him. Our “wy me’s?” lead us into doubt, resentment, and finally a feeling of te absence of God. He asn’t left or canged, but we develop a low- grade agnosticism tat leads to te neglect of prayer. hen our “Lord, get me out of tis!” eventually comes to “Lord, wat do You want me to get out of tis?” Our motto becomes “hings don’t work out—God works out tings!” his book of prayers for toug times was written during my time of ealing from grief after my wife of 52 years, Mary Jane, graduated to eaven. he prayers are in te first-person singular so tey can be a very personal expression. hey represent my own deepest tougts and feelings, as well as tose sared wit me by fellow strugglers I’ve known and counseled troug te many years of my ministry.

In all tese prayers, I’ve tried to live in your skin and give wings to your own anguis or anxiety, or your praise and adoration. he undergirding conviction wit- in tem is,God Himself is te Answer.Wat we all need in toug times is an intimate, ealing, inspiring experience of His grace and goodness, peace and power. Were I ave included a Scripture quotation, te source is found at te end of te prayer to assist you in furter reflection. Prayer begins wit God, and sweeps into our minds and earts. He clarifies wat He desires for us so tat we can pray wit boldness for wat He is more ready to give tan we may ave been willing to ask. Prayer is te source of ealing and ope in toug times. My deepest longing is tat tis book will be a guide for onest, ealing, and opeful prayer for you wen- ever toug times come and te going is roug. God’s promise to never leave or forsake us is absolutely true and reliable. I know!
