Introduction
When I first started to write this book, it didn’t start as a book at all. Originally, I was just gathering scriptures to learn and then pass down to my children to dedicate the verses to them. Soon the Lord expressed to me that this book was just as much for His babies as it was for mine.
I would like to share with you the promises of God. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, that means there is a whole blessing of promises that came along with your salvation. It doesn’t mean you only get to go to heaven. You need to live blessed, not lacking any of the benefits. “Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget any of His benefits!” (Psalm 103.2 KJV).
I will walk you through the scriptures; however, we will need to do so together. Yes, that means you need to pull out your Bible and look them up with me. Please don’t take my word alone on this. It’s important that you lay your eyes on them; see them with your eyes and say them with your mouth. “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart” (Proverbs 4:20–21 KJV).
By doing your own research, the Lord will be able to bring revelation to you and lead you to other scriptures. You may want to grab a notebook to keep notes. This study can change your relationship with the Lord if you will allow it.
I will teach you what faith in His word is and how to use it to receive these wonderful blessings. I will teach you how to apply it to daily life, not just on Sunday. I will also teach you how the devil operates and how to put him in his place and stand strong in the Lord. I know how to use what the devil says to back up what God says, and I will show you.
I usually start with the King James Version; however, I love to pull verses from the Amplified Bible. I feel that it gives me a deeper understanding. I’m not too proud to say Google is my friend when I cannot find a scripture. You may hear the same scriptures mentioned more than once. They may be used in several different ways, and that’s OK. That is how they were designed to be used.
Since there are so many scriptures, I couldn’t include them all. I pulled my favorites and listed more for you to study on your own. Those scriptures are listed under the “Additional Scripture References.” I encourage you to look these scriptures up and write out your favorite ones. If you don’t have a Bible, there are several apps you can download that will allow you to look them up. As I said earlier, Google is a great option.
After each chapter, a few questions are listed to help you. Please take time to read and answer them honestly. They will be helpful. You need time to reflect on what you have read. I wouldn’t try to read through all at once; there are a few chapters that have homework to complete. The homework is short but important as well. Take time to think about what you have read and meditate on those scripture verses.
If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, a prayer at the back of this book will help you get started. All you need to do is ask Him to come into your life. I promise you won’t regret this decision.
OK, are you ready? Grab your Bible(s), iPad, tablet, notebook, pen, cell phone, or whatever you have, and let’s get started. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises” (Romans 15:13 AMP).
Chapter 1
WHO ARE YOU?

N ow there’s a question. Who are you? Well … who do you think you are? Do you know? What makes “you” you? I know, those were a lot of questions all at once, but they are important ones. Most of us have decided that who we are is based on where we grew up, who our parents are, what our ethnicity is, and what religion we are affiliated with.
Have you ever wondered or even asked who you are in Christ? What does it even mean to be a Christian? What benefits do you have, other than the end goal of going to heaven? You haven’t asked these questions? Don’t worry, I asked for both of us, and I have a few answers.
What if I told you that being a Christian means you are a child of the only true King, the most high God? That you are an heir to everything He has? That you have the power to reign over the devil? Or that there is never a situation you cannot be saved from? If you have asked these questions, are you asking whether you deserve this?
To know who you are in Christ, you must first know who God is, what you mean to Him, and what He has done for you. Without knowing His love and sacrifice, you will never truly understand what you mean to Him and therefore never know your true place in this life. So we’ll start there.
Most everyone has heard of the great God and stories of Him smiting people and turning them into salt. Many go through life wondering when they will endure the “wrath of God,” the things some of us believe we deserve in some way or another.
What you may not have heard is that the bible was the greatest love story ever told. God made a love sacrifice for His people and a covenant so strong that no force in heaven or earth can alter it. Most of you know the story of a son born of a virgin in Bethlehem and that He died on a cross. Not everyone knows why. Christ was the son of God, who was prophesied in the Old Testament to save us from our sins. God told His people in advance that He had a plan.
The Bible is composed of letters filled with the love of God. The words God whispered to His people were written down and shared with a world that doesn’t know Him. God wants to save you from your sin; He gave His only Son to do so.
Sin goes back to the very beginning when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God. Yes, I said, “Chose.” It was a choice. Eve didn’t have to be deceived, and Adam didn’t have to choose to allow her to be so. Nevertheless, they chose to sin, but God was ready with a plan. God made the first blood sacrifice to make clothing to cover them then and there. You can find this story in the third chapter of Genesis.
Now, let’s take a side note here. Blood has always been a key part in many stories of the Bible and ultimately a form of protection. Just take the Passover, for example. God gave the word to His people to place the blood of a spotless lamb on their doorposts when they were in Egypt. The angel of death would pass over them and leave them unharmed in the battle to be released from Pharaoh’s grip. This story is located in Exodus 12.
Pharaoh had a grip on God’s people and refused to let go. He ultimately brought against himself the ten plagues of Egypt. Now, I don’t know whether you learned about these in school, but they weren’t fun and included frogs, locusts, water turned to blood, and a few unpleasant others. The last was the worst, the killing of all firstborn sons. This
