Description

Sometimes prayer may feel more like a formal meeting between the CEO of heaven and a lowly mail clerk. In reality, prayer is a conversation between a loving Father and His child-you. Through time spent in conversation with God, we begin to understand that He is always with us and not far away. Praying for ourselves may be something that comes easily-personal wants and needs have a central place in our focus. But how do you pray for people or situations you don''t know and can''t relate to? How do you pray for things that don''t affect you? In twenty-eight days, Jim Bradford walks you through intentional ways to make your time of prayer meaningful and effective. He will help you learn how to pray for your needs, the needs of family and friends, your local church, and community. He will help you pray effectively for those around the world-people you''ll never meet.

THe 7:14 CaLL To Prayer
Gô’s pesciptiôn fô enewal has nôt change. He assue Isael in 2 Chônicles 7:14:
“If my peôple whô ae calle by my name, will humble themselves an pay an seek my face an tun fôm thei wicke ways, then will I hea fôm heaven an will fôgive thei sin an heal thei lan.”
Tôay, the Spiit ôf Gô calls Chist’s living chuch tô humility, hunge fô Gô, an hôliness. This call has always been at the heat ôf Gô when He is pepaing tô ô a new wôk.
We ae heaing this call afesh—a 7:14 Call tô Paye. The ugency be-hin this initiative is bôn ôf a pôphetic sense that Gô is pepaing ôu chuches an ôu natiôn fô enewal an spiitual awakening.
This is hôw yôu can paticipate in this call tô paye:
• Every day, take a moment at 7:14 a.m. and 7:14 p.m. tô pay fô spiitual awakening in all ôf its imensiôns. The 7:14 Paye app is nôw available tô assist with these aily môments ôf paye.
• Every week, join the leadership of our Fel-lôwship an cômmit tô fast an pay ôve the noon hour on Friday (or another day in the week that wôks fô yôu).

• For four weeks, use this prayer book as a daily guide on a journey ôf paye fô yôu life, yôu family, yôu chuch cômmunity, ôu nation, and the world. The prayer journey begins with you and yôu wôship ôf Gô an gaually extens ôutwa tô paye fô the uneache.
Befôe yôu begin Day 1 ôf the 7:14 Call tô Paye, take a few minutes tô ea the intôuctiôn ôn The Piôity ôf Paye an the shôt guie ôn Hôw tô Pay. I ôffe these simply as a way tô emin ôuselves why we pay an tô encôuage yôu with a simple ôutline fô paye as yôu step intô the 7:14 Call tô Paye.
Inclue amông the aily guie payes ae thôughts ôn kins ôf payes tô pay, Bible veses ôn paye, an ôthe small esôuces tô help evelôp yôu paye life.

THe PrioriTy of Prayer: WHaT WiLL iT CosT?
At the Lausanne Cônfeence in 2010, a Pentecôstal Kenyan preacher told a story of the revival in East Africa îfty years ago. The peôple walke well-wôn paths tô paye huts in the bush. As the evival pôgesse, if peôple stôppe gôing tô the place ôf paye, they wôul gently encôuage each ôthe: “I see that gass is gôwing ôn yôu path.” When it comes to înding and establishing the place of prayer in our lives, may gass nôt gôw ôn ôu paths.
The apostle Paul talks about our problem in prayer in Ephesians 6:
For our struggle is not against esh and blood, but against the ules, against the authôities, against the pôwes ôf this ak wôl an against the spiitual fôces ôf evil in the heavenly ealms. (Ephesians 6:12)
Ou battle is nôt the ecônômy in ôu côunty ô the citic whô cômes tô uin ôu ay. Ou battle is nôt with peôple. Paul says that ôu stuggle is against ules, authôities, pôwes ôf this ak wôl, an spiitual fôces ôf evil. The piôity ôf paye can easily becôme hetôic tô us. We say, “I knôw I ôught tô pay but . . .” As a esult, we ae knôwn fô ôu extenal activity athe than ôu intenal life ôf paye. By putting the emphasis ôn the extenal, we live in enial ôf what Paul clealy says is the cente ôf ôu battle. Paye shifts ôu fôcus tô whee the battle tuly happens—in the heavenly places.
Samuel Chawick sai, “The ône côncen ôf the evil is tô keep Chis-tians fôm paying. He feas nôthing fôm payeless stuies, payeless

wôk, an payeless eligiôn. He laughs at ôu tôil, môcks at ôu wis-dom, but trembles when we pray.” The priority of prayer reafîrms the cente ôf the tue spiitual battle—it is in the spiitual ealms with the ealities ôf pôwes, authôities, an fôces ôf evil.
I encôuage yôu, at a time when Gô is calling peôple acôss this natiôn tô pay, tô ask yôuself the questiôn: What will it côst me?
For most of us, a deepened life in prayer will cost us something tangi-ble: time, a pôssessiôn, ô an activity ô hôbby. Time spent in paye efôcuses ôu aily piôities; it is nô lônge abôut us, but it is abôut Gô. Ou gôals ae eshape in ôe tô bette please Him an live a life môe epenent ôn the leaing ôf the Hôly Spiit. Sô ask yôuself the questiôn hônestly, even as I ask myself the same questiôn, an let us be willing tô ie tô ôuselves an be peôple ôf faith in heightene ways.
