“This book is at the same time a Bible study and the story of a personal journey into the ‘more’ of God. If you have a desire for intentionally pursuing the presence of God and the outbreak of His Kingdom on earth, this book will help you. If you are on that journey but have questions, this book will help you. Pete is a man of real courage. He lives this stuff and so does his exciting church. They are supernatural; they take the intervention of the unseen into the seen seriously. Big thanks to you, Pete and Kim, and all at NKCC, for becoming a great help and hope to many others who are seeking to embrace more of heaven on earth in these days.”
Andy Merrick, elder, Hope Church, Glasgow; www.hopechurchglasgow.org
“God is doing wonderful things in our day that make us hungry to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This book will make the process easier. Pete highlights a few things that were clearly visible in the life of Jesus (grace, sonship, freedom . . .) that they may become so in ours, too. Let’s ‘unwrap’ everything that gets in the way of this! Because these truths are demonstrated in his own life, Pete is able to talk about them in a way that is both engaging and full of real wisdom.”
Jean Hay, elder, Assemblée Chrétienne Alès Cévennes; www.ac-ac.fr
“The story of God at work is a very simple and down-to-earth business. In Unwrapping Lazarus , Pete gives us his insights into how biblical transformation is taking place in our world today.”
Joel Edwards, director, Micah Challenge International; chair, EXPOSED, www.exposed2013.com
“With apostolic insight, penetrating analysis and practical examples from life, work and ministry, Pete Carter invites us to examine our preconceptions about the Kingdom and the Church. As he unwraps the death clothes of Lazarus for us, we will want to shed our unhelpful traditions, false humility and lingering legalism and embrace freedom, royal sonship and the new wine of the Holy Spirit.
“I have had the great privilege of working closely with Pete in the NKCC leadership team and seeing firsthand his love, compassion, wisdom, faith and, most of all, his passion for the presence of God. Pete’s book will provoke your thinking and, if you need it, rattle your cage. You will discover more of the goodness of God, the power of the cross and faith to see signs and wonders. You will be empowered to develop a naturally supernatural lifestyle. You will find revelation and stimulus to increase the manifestation of heaven on earth.”
David Webster, senior leader and director, NKCC Schools of Supernatural Ministry
“In Unwrapping Lazarus , Dr. Pete Carter will take you on an adventure. He is a man who is hungry for more of Jesus. He knows his Bible, loves the Church and is living a righteous life. Nonetheless, he hungers for more of the abundant life he’s heard so much about. This book is not only about his own personal transformation in his relationship with Jesus, it is also a map for all who desire to accept the invitation from heaven to believe for more than you have ever considered before. In these pages are enough courage, risk and revelation to spark a personal revival for the reader and a corporate revival for those who hear the testimonies. If you want to realize the promises of Scripture and see heaven made manifest in your life, then I highly recommend that you read this book and that you prepare yourself for an encounter with the living God.”
Danny Silk, director, Global Transformation Institute; senior management team, Bethel Church, Redding, California
“In this dynamic book, Pete Carter has beautifully interwoven tremendous apostolic insights and understanding with real-life examples and testimonies to give us an incredibly interesting, challenging and edifying result. Pete is a well-respected medical doctor who was divinely shifted into apostolic and pastoral ministry. The insights he shares about his journey and of Lazarus are powerful truths that Pete has paid a great price to obtain and convey. This book will give you hope and encouragement for taking off the clothes of your history and lifeless religion, while also creating an appetite for the liberty and fullness of the Holy Spirit God has for you as His much-loved child.”
Dr. Michael Maiden, lead pastor, Church for the Nations, Phoenix, Arizona; president, Church on the Rock International
“ I like that guy ! was my concluding thought after spending a day with Pete Carter. What I enjoyed most was my talk with him about what God is doing today. I found his insights fu ll of revelation that feed my spirit. Unwrapping Lazarus will help you see areas where adjustment is needed so that your Christian life can be more fulfilling. It is a must-read book for today’s Christian. Taking time to read this book will be well worth it.”

Foreword
I am always impressed by people who are quite established in their ministries or careers who come to a place like Bethel Church in Redding, California, to learn as though they were novices. It is humbling, actually. Often these are the ones who are already great leaders in their spheres of influence and have a significant following of their God-given gift and ability. Yet they come for weeks, and sometimes months, just to glean from the wonderful presence of God among us. Such is the case with Pete and Kim Carter. They came, not as experts but as hungry believers.
We welcomed them as a part of the family . . . our tribe. They had access to various members of our team and joined us for staff meetings, etc. It was a great joy for us, as I believe it was for them. The outcome is a friendship that easily spans distance and time to form a partnership for Kingdom exploits.
While this book is truly Pete Carter’s “material,” it is consistent with the mandate that we all feel is necessary for the Church in this hour. Not only that, but our friendship is a practical example of the partnership that we are feeling is necessary between the Church of the United Kingdom and the Church of the United States. It seems to be an essential heavenly mandate upon these two nations that will benefit us both, but more importantly will enable us to have impact on the nations of the world much more effectively.
Unwrapping Lazarus is a wonderful book that is both inspired instruction and a written record of a journey. And I can’t think of a better combination. The journey is that of this marvelous couple, Pete and Kim Carter. Pete made a dramatic adjustment in careers, joining to his stance as a respected doctor the additional position of pastor and church leader in the U.K. His unusual combination of both ministry and medical experience affords him insights that would be hard to come by any other way. I love how he weaves the experiences from these two distinct professions into a beautiful tapestry revealing what freedom really looks like, thus the title Unwrapping Lazarus .
We are citizens of a Kingdom known by freedom. The presence of the Spirit of God in our lives is unto that purpose—liberty! But the more profound journey as recorded in this book is much more than a change in professions. It is a shift in mindsets that affects every profession and discipline. Simply put, it is a change from a traditional, acceptable view of life to a true Kingdom perspective of life. What this statement lacks in profundity, it more than makes up for in the revolutionary nature of its impact. This is the kind of change that inspires a shift in the culture we live in. And that by itself is transformational in nature.
