Foreword
In the midst of an ever-changing world, one thing is certain: God does not change. He remains the same—yesterday, today and forever. That is comforting! We never have to question or second-guess God’s nature. With every passing generation, He remains faithful and constant.
The Bible clearly reveals that God is a healer. The Lord Himself declared, “I am the L ORD who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). So we see clearly that healing is a gift from God. Jesus, the exact representation of God, came to reveal the Father. If people had questions regarding God’s nature, Jesus would provide the answers. While He was on earth, He healed the sick, performed signs and wonders, and destroyed the works of the devil. By His words and actions, Jesus displayed how God is both a healer and a miracle worker. Settle this truth in your heart: God heals—both now and forever!
When it comes to answering the question of why people are not healed, my dear friend Glen has written an incredible book that thoroughly unpacks the subject of healing. He delves into all aspects of healing—spiritual, emotional and physical. He also explains many reasons healing can be hindered and provides solutions to overcome them.
My friendship with Glen has spanned several decades, and over the years, I have witnessed how he has overcome several sicknesses and infirmities, including heart disease. Glen is a man of faith who refuses to settle for anything less than God’s best. He writes from a position of authority, combining personal experience with God’s Word. Even as I write this foreword, Glen is contending for healing after recently suffering a major heart attack. Thankfully reports are showing that he is recovering ahead of schedule.
While I believe healing and miracles are available to us today, a day is coming when we will no longer need to be healed—for Jesus will return and complete our salvation. On that glorious day, our bodies will be changed, and we will never again experience sickness, disease or death. Paul wrote,
But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
Philippians 3:20–21
The return of our King is approaching. Until then, keep contending for heaven to invade earth! God is good and paid a great price for you to be healed. And since God did not withhold sacrificing His Son for us, He certainly will not withhold from us everything else He has to give. That includes your healing!
John Bevere, bestselling author and minister; co-founder, Messenger International
Introduction
Healing is a topic that has confused many because so much has been said and written on this subject over the years. People have questions, and rightfully so. Is God still in the healing business today? Am I worth being healed? I prayed many times, and God did not heal me. Why? How do you get a miracle?
I hope that this book will bring clarity to you and provide the answers you have been searching for. This is an important topic that we cannot overlook as Christians just because it is hard or controversial. There are too many sick people walking around today. Can we help them? Though modern medicine has come a long way, there are still several illnesses without a cure.
I am one of those people seeking healing from God. I have experienced four sicknesses that easily could have taken my life. This book is as much for me as it is for you. The doctors say I have coronary artery disease. Medically I am considered a high-risk patient. I have five stents in my arteries now. I need a miracle! Medicine can help, but it cannot give me new arteries or a new heart.
I have decided that coronary artery disease is going to stop with me. I will not pass it on to my children and grandchildren. I believe we all have a greater degree of authority in our own lives than we ever realize. I am taking authority over this, believing that it will not stop me from preaching the Gospel. It will not stop me from ministering to my congregation. It will not stop me from being a good husband and father. I still have a lot I want to do in my life, so it is important that I get my healing miracle.
Maybe your story is a lot like mine. You may have a serious disease or illness. The doctor’s report is not very good. You have tried everything. You have done what the doctor said. You have gone to healing meetings. You have stood in healing lines time and time again.
Maybe you have something in your life that was passed down to you generationally that you need healing for. Some diseases, illnesses and curses are passed down from one generation to the next. Do you just have to accept that as your fate in life? Is there not something more you can do?
In this book, not only will I talk about physical healing, but I will also talk about what wholeness healing is and what God says about healing. We will discuss the difference between healing and miracles. If you are a Christian, the Word of God should be the final authority on any subject, but with all the various teachings out there, it can be hard to know exactly what the Word says. Well, I can tell you Jesus started with these verses right here:
The Spirit of the Lord G OD is upon Me, because the L ORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to
