Description

Heroic Struggle: Coping with Chronic Illnesses guides a reader into living with a life-long disorder or disease. This is inspired by the personal experiences of the writer, who has beaten the odds, suffering from eczema for 14 years. It opens with a real-life situation and offers tips and insights for sufferers of chronic illness, victims, carers, families, friends, medical practitioners and institutions. It provides tangible approaches and coping mechanisms which different actors may and should adapt in such an adverse situation. Coping with chronic illnesses is not only a daunting task but rather an endeavour worth the label of a heroic struggle.

Foreword
You are reading a book tat will provide an epic illustration of courage and optimism. his valuable information comes in andy for te reader to ave an in-dept understanding of te cronic ailments tat will aid in strengtening coping mecanisms in disease management by patients and ealt workers. My impression of Cristine Matama, autor, is tat se as endured a cronic illness — eczema — and se as also exibited enormous skills in supporting a greater number of cronically ill patients. Se as worked at te Joint Clinical Researc Centre, under my leadersip. From er experience as a patient of eczema and over eigt years of experience in caring for te cronically ill, Cristine Matama provides an informed approac to te management of cronic illnesses and igligts some of te most important unresolved callenges. Se ten illustrates ow imperative it is to explain te diagnosis to te patient early and empower tem wit more information about te condition tat contributes towards te pat to ealing. I igly recommend tis book because it provides insigts into coping wit persistent illnesses and will be of benefit to patients, teir families, care providers and te community at large.
