Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The same plan is followed in this work as in the Magnetism,' viz., thorough explanation, clear diagrams, and numerous experiments to illustrate every phase of the subject. The experiments are adapted for the teacher's use in illustrating his lectures, or for the pupil's private practice for his own special benefit. The diagrams Should be carefully drawn, and every division of the subject thoroughly mastered. All the questions which have been set in the Ele mentary Stage since 1867 are collected at the end of the book, and numbers are attached referring to the page of the work where the explanations may be found. A supplementary chapter has been added on 'suggestions as to Apparatus,' and the author trusts this may be found useful to many students. T he, author is indebted to other writers on electricity in one or two instances for short extracts and diagrams.
