The biggest increase were recorded in Germany and the United Kingdom, where the figures showed increases in June 1988 of 8.3 7. and 5.4 '/, respectively. Elsewhere the s were 3.6 7. in Luxembourg (supermarkets and chain-stores), 2.9 % in Belgium, 2.7 % in Denmark, 2.5 7. in Ireland and 1.8 7. in France. During the first half of 1988 sales were up in comparison with the same period in 1987 in all the Member States apart from Denmark and France, where the volume of sales was stationary.
