Revue d'histoire de la pharmacie - Année 1976 - Volume 64 - Numéro 228 - Pages 7-12L.-R. Bailly, Apothecary in Paris and collector of curios. Bailly's collection was sold by auction after his death in 1766 and a catalogue raisonné was published for the sale by the Sieurs Helle and Glomy, auctionneers. This catalogue is analysed as follows. Bailly was, as a pharmacist, interested in natural history which subject attracted distinguished people in his time. With regard to this part of his collection there are exceptional samples of shells, nearly unknown in France, which he received from his nephew, also an apothecary, in Florida. Bailly, who held public offices in the town, also had collections of medals, coins and works of art. 6 pages Source : Persée ; Ministère de la jeunesse, de l’éducation nationale et de la recherche, Direction de l’enseignement supérieur, Sous-direction des bibliothèques et de la documentation.
