Revue d'histoire de la pharmacie - Année 1979 - Volume 67 - Numéro 243 - Pages 259-262Ceramic drug jars of the Ospedale Maggiore at Novara. An account is given of three sets of pottery drug jars made for the Ospedale Maggiore délia Carità at Novara, in Northern Italy. The first series, painted in polychrome colours and bearing the emblem of the hospital (Charity and children) was made at the Rossetti factory in Turin in about 1745. The members of the series, thirty-six of which are listed, are found in various museums and private collections in Italy, England and Switzerland, as well as at the hospital itself. The second series comprises jars with a buff glaze inscribed OSP. MAGG. or CHARITAS ; the jars are devoid of decoration or name of a drug. The members of the third series are modern copies of inferior workmanship of the first set. 4 pages Source : Persée ; Ministère de la jeunesse, de l’éducation nationale et de la recherche, Direction de l’enseignement supérieur, Sous-direction des bibliothèques et de la documentation.
