Gallia préhistoire - Année 1982 - Volume 25 - Numéro 1 - Pages 79-105Coupe-Gorge cave belongs to a karstic system near the village Montmaurin (Haute-Garonne). Its palaeontological material is spread over three layers of which the oldest is by far the thickest and the richest one. Detailed study of the industry from this lower layer helps in specifying some of its aspects : raw material, state of flaking and morphology of the flakes, fractures and irregular retouches, typology of the tools. About half of the small tools are scrapers. Handaxes, usually small, occur only in the top of the layer, where also trimmed pebbles are more frequent. According to its characteristics the layer 3 seems to belong to the end of the Acheulean and the very beginning of the Mousterian. 27 pages
