IMPORTING REFERENCES INTO ENDNOTE WEB

Please note that you will still need to edit references imported into EndNote Web in order to

comply with the University’s Harvard APA style.

Importing references from Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA) databases

This covers Cambridge Scientific Abstracts databases, e.g.

Applied Social Sciences Index

and Abstracts (ASSIA)

,

ERIC

,

Medline

,

PsycInfo

,

Sociological Abstracts

etc

•

Having searched the database, you will have some results on the screen

•

Click in the box next to the references you would like to export to EndNote Web

•

Click on the Save, Print, Email link at the top

•

Select

Full format

from the drop-down list

•

Choose

Text

format (click inside the circle next to Text)

•

Under

Choose a bibliographic style

, select

APA - American Psychological

Association, 5

th

Edition

from the drop-down list

•

Click on

Save

•

Make a note of where you saved the file

•

In EndNote Web, click on the

Collect

tab then click on the Import References link

•

Click on

Browse…

to find the downloaded file you saved earlier

•

Select the relevant database with (CSA) after the title e.g.

ASSIA (CSA)

,

ERIC (CSA)

,

MEDLINE (CSA)

,

PsycInfo (CSA)

,

Sociological Abs (CSA)

from the list of database

filters

Click on the

Import

button

•

Unless you specify otherwise your references will be brought into the

[Unfiled]

Group in

your EndNote Web account

Importing references from COPAC

You can search COPAC from within EndNote Web, which makes it easy to import book

references.

•

In EndNote Web, click on the

Online Search

link under the

Collect

tab

•

Select COPAC from the drop-down list

•

Click on the

Connect

button

•

Do a search using the boxes and drop down lists to help focus your results

•

Click to retrieve all records or to select a range of records to retrieve

•

The Online Search Results will be displayed on the screen

•

Click in the box next to each reference you want to store in EndNote Web

•

Select from the Add to group… drop down list to move the selected references into a

group in EndNote Web

•

If you have used particular pages from a book, you will need to enter these details

manually into the reference on EndNote Web – click on the link to the reference and

complete the relevant field.

Click on the Refresh button in your browser to save the

details.
