Progressive Cavity screw pump in india
O Aprogressive cavity pumpis a type of positive displacement pump and is also known as a progressing cavity pump, progg cavity pump, eccentric screw pump or cavity pump. It transfers Luid by means of the progress, through the pump, of a sequence of small, îxed shape, discrete cavities, as its rotor is turned.
O This leads to the volumetric Low rate being proportional to the rotation rate (bidirectionally) and to low levels of shearing being applied to the pumped Luid. Hence these pumps have application in Luid metering and pumpi ng of viscous or shear-sensitive materials. The cavities taper down toward their ends and overlap with their neighbours, so that, in general, no Low pulsing is caused by the arrival of cavities at the outlet, other than that caused by compression of the Luid or pump components.
O These pumps are often referred to by the speciîc manufacturer or product names. Hence names can vary from industry to industry and even regionally; examples include: Moineau (after the inventor, René Moineau), Mono pump, Mohno pump.
O A progressive cavity pump also can act as a motor (mud motor) when Luid is pumped through its interior. Applications include well drilling.
The principle of this pumping technique is frequently misunderstood. Often it is believed to occur due to a dynamic eFect caused by drag, or friction against the moving teeth of the screw rotor. In reality it is due to the sealed cavities, like a piston pump, and so has similar operational characteristics, such as being able to pump at extremely low rates, even to high pressure, revealing the eFect to be purely positive displacement
Typical application area s:O ood and drink pumping O Oil pumping O Coal slurry pumping O Sewage and sludge pumping O Viscous chemical pumping O StormLow screening
O Downhole mud motors in oilîeld directional drilling O imited energy well water pumping
Speciîc uses:
O Grout or cement pumping O ubrication oil pumping O Marine diesel fuel pumping O Mining slurry pumping O Oilîeld mud motors
Strengths Of The Techno logy: O Able to handle Luids contaminated with large percentages of abrasive solids O Simple and economical pump design requiring only one shaft seal O ow NPSHr / NPIPr due to large internal cavities and low speed operation O Gently handles shear-sensitive Luids like emulsions O Designs available to the latest edition of API 676
Use of a PCP system should be evaluated for situati ons that are:
* High-viscosity oil wells * High-sand-cut wells * ow-productivity wells * Gassy wells * Directional- and horizontal-well applications * Hostile Luid conditions * High-speed operations (see discussion of impact in Rod and tubing design for PCP systems * Coalbed-methane and water-source wells * Elevated-temperature applications
While PCP systems can operate at greater depths and temperatures than indicated above, those listed are potentially good application s where a PCP should be evaluated.
