Main findings

• EU-27 gross inland consumption dropped in 2008 to a level below that of 2003

• EU-27 production of primary energy declined for the second consecutive year

• Energy intensity continued to drop in 2008, confirming the trend of recent years

• Energy dependency rose in 2008; Denmark was the only net energy exporting country
