BIG CABLE PULLOVER

MATERIALS: Alafoss Lopi x 7 (8) (8)

NEEDLES: 5.5mm (US 9) and 6mm (US 10) and

5.5mm (US 9) 40cm (16'') circular

or double point set (or needles size to give correct

tension)

TENSlON: 14 sts and 16 rows = 4'' using 6mm (US

10) needles and stocking stitch (st st)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

Width 36'' (39'') (41'')

Length 21'' (22'') (23'')

Sleeve Length 18'' (18.5'') (19'')

Our quantities are based on sample garments completed by our knitters. Quantities may vary

from knitter to knitter, PLEASE make sure to do a tension swatch for accurate gauge.

Instructions appear as Small (Medium) (Large). When there is only one instruction it applies

to all sizes.

BACK: With 5.5mm (US 9) needles, cast on 64

(68) (72) sts Work in K1 , P1 rib for 10 rows.

Change to 6mm (US 10) needles and st st.

Work until piece measures 13.5 (14) (14.5)

marker, P7, increase 1 st knitwise into the next

6 sts, P7, Place marker, K22 (24) (26) sts. 70

Next row: P22 (24) (26) sts, slip marker, K7,

P12, K7, slip marker, P22 (24) (26) sts.

Continue by working the 22 (24) (26) sts at

the beginning and end of the rows in stocking

stitch while working the center 26 sts in cable

pattern as follows:

Row 1: P7, K12, P7

Row 2: K7, P12, P7

Rows 3 and 4: Repeat last 2 rows

Row 5: P7, slip 6 sts to cable needle, hold to

the front of work, K3, K6 from cable needle,

Row 6: as Row 2

Row 7: P7, K3, sIip 6 sts to cable needle, hold

Work sts as established until piece measures

SHAPE ARMHOLES as given for Back. When 6

repeats of the pattern have been completed,

work 10 (12) (14) more rows in pattern. Next

row: K 12 ( 14) (16) sts, P7, K2tog 6 times, P7,

K 12 (14) (16) sts. 44 (48) (52) sts.

SHAPE NECK AND SHOULDERS: P 12 (14) (16)

sts, K4, Place center 12 sts on a holder. Join

more yarn K4, P 12 (14) (16) sts. Working both

sides at the same time, and keeping the

remaining pattern sts correct, decrease 1 st at

each neck edge 4 times. 12 (14) (16) sts

remain on each side. Work until piece

measures 20.5 (21 .5) (22.5) inches at the

shouIder and

cast off 6 (7) (8) sts from outer edge on

aIternate rows, twice.

SLEEVES: With 5.5mm (US 9) needles, cast

on 34 (36) (38) sts. Work in K1, P1 rib for 10

rows. Change to 6mm (US 10) needles.

Increase 1 st at each end of next and every

following 12th row, 4 times. 42 (44) (46) sts.

Work without further increasing until sleeve

measures 18 (18.5) (19) inches or desired

length. Cast off 3 sts from beginning of next 2

rows. 36 (38) (40) sts. Decrease 1 st at each

end of next and following alternate rows 4

times 28 (30) (32) sts. Decrease at each end

of following 4th rows 2 (3) (4) times 24 sts.

Decrease 1 st at each end of every row 4

times. 16 sts. Cast off.

NECKBAND: Sew shoulder seams. With

5.5mm (US 9) circuIar or double point

needles, beginning at Ieft shoulder seam, pick

up and K 10 (11) (12) sts to the front holder. K

across 12 sts on the holder. Pick up and K 1O

(11) (12) sts
