Violin & Cello tuning: Both instruments’ lowest string should be tuned down a whole tone. Violin open strings should sound E, A, D, F and cello open strings should sound A, D, G, B. Score and parts are written at pitch (not transposed for fingerings).

Optional: The cellist may chose to position the mute on the 2 lowest strings as the mute is mostly used for their purpose.
