Editor's Notes

Five suites for harpsichordtogether with a« Concert Calotin » are published by Antoine Dornel in Paris with the privilege of the King Louis XV in 1731. This edition is available as facsimile, published by « MinkoffReprint ». I used this edition as source of my typesetting.

Dornel usesseveral clefs, probable to avoid too many ledger lines. I converted all clefs to the modern used treble and bass clef. By this it is not possible to keep the original direction of the stems, but the grouping of notes ispreserved in any case. Otherwise I typeset all notes and ornaments as they are given with a few exceptions of obvious errors which are corrected without mention.

The use of the sign for repeats is not uniform.Particularly within therondeaus Dornel sets the same sign at theend of the first part and in most cases at the end of the couplets too. I changed this by setting a repeat at the end of the first part and a double bar at the end of the couplets. For all movements witha « Reprise » a repeat isset at the end of the first part and not at the end of the movement in accordance with Dornel.
