Sample Book Insights:
#1 I was arrested with my parents, and placed in safe houses by the police. I was numb, as though it was all happening to someone else. I knew it wasn’t me, but I still felt as though it was.
#2 I had always been loyal to my mother, even when she was arrested for the murders. I couldn’t imagine she was capable of such crimes. I was stunned when the police told me that the house had been bugged, because I had been interviewing my mother for them and now my job was over, I wasn’t needed any longer.
#3 I had to quit my job after Dad’s arrest, so I had no money or support. I couldn’t understand how what had happened would affect my entire future life.
#4 The hardest part for me to deal with has been the fact that my mother did play a part in the crimes she was accused of. She did not love and protect us as children, but she did care for us deeply.

Insights from Chapter 1

#1

I was arrested with my parents, and placed in safe houses by the police. I was numb, as though it was all happening to someone else. I knew it wasn’t me, but I still felt as though it was.

#2

I had always been loyal to my mother, even when she was arrested for the murders. I couldn’t imagine she was capable of such crimes. I was stunned when the police told me that the house had been bugged, because I had been interviewing my mother for them and now my job was over, I wasn’t needed any longer.

#3

I had to quit my job after Dad’s arrest, so I had no money or support. I couldn’t understand how what had happened would affect my entire future life.

#4

The hardest part for me to deal with has been the fact that my mother did play a part in the crimes she was accused of. She did not love and protect us as children, but she did care for us deeply.

#5

I have wanted to understand my parents and their relationship, even though it has caused me a lot of pain and confusion. I have tried to understand my parents and their relationship, but I still have many questions.

#6

I have kept on searching for the truth about my mother, despite the fact she has given me no real help or honest answers. I have a reason for writing this book: I want to describe my experience of being connected biologically and emotionally to two people who are regarded by people as evil.

#7

I have tried to build a new life for myself and those I love. I have never really been a practicing Christian, but I know that the Bible teaches that all of us, even the worst examples of humanity, were made in God’s image.

#8

Fred and Rose were a strange couple, but as a couple, they seemed to turn into something else. They were locked in a strange intense relationship, and they seemed to turn into something else.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

I was born in 1972. My mother, May, found it funny that I was called after the month, but when I was born in June she gave me that as a middle name. She said she found it easy to have children. My father, on the other hand, was uninterested in my arrival.

#2

My parents, Richard and Anne Marie, had met in 1969 when Anne Marie was fifteen and working as a waitress in Cheltenham. They had a typical relationship at first, with Dad chasing after her and trying to win her over.

#3

Dad began to ask Mom out, and she agreed. They began to spend time together, and soon realized they had a lot in common: they were both single parents with two daughters. Their relationship became an adult one almost immediately.

#4

When she was with Dad, Mum escaped the miserable atmosphere at home. Her parents had arranged for her to be taken into care when she was sixteen, but she escaped and went live with Dad. She became pregnant soon after.

#5

When Dad was sent to prison, it was Mum who was the single parent of the two children. Things quickly got worse for her when Dad was caught stealing tires from work, and he was sent to prison.

#6

After the wedding, Mum and Dad decided to find a bigger house. They bought a dilapidated three-story terraced house on Cromwell Street, close to the city center.
