What’s Inside

His hands felt wonderful as they moved over her body. They always had a slight roughness that came from being physical, and they contrasted with her soft skin, catching and stimulating as they moved over her aggressively. He found the spots that still ached from the spanking he'd given her the night before and he teased her by scratching his nails across the skin there.
She moaned, a shiver rolling through her body, making her writhe. "That drives me crazy," she said. Her voice was low and husky, practically a purr from the sexual excitement.
"I know. You're a very tactile woman, kitten. I love how you react to every touch," he commented as he nudged her legs apart and let his hand slide between them, finding her wet and ready for him, but he wasn't going to give her everything she wanted just yet. He liked to tease her, to drag things out by building the suspense slowly. His fingers stroked across her folds, plumped and spread from excitement, giving her just enough to frustrate her.
She spread her legs, pushing back to try to entice him into giving her more friction, but he just chuckled, scolding her playfully. "Naughty girl, you have to be patient if you want to come out ahead in a negotiation," he said with deliberate emphasis on the word come. He palmed her mound, cupping it and squeezing possessively. His middle finger pressed firmly along the seam, with the tip so close to her clit it made her whine.
She shifted, trying to guide him to the spot she wanted him to touch, and he obliged, but only after she'd gotten nearly frantic about it. He spread her lips and let his finger stroke through the slippery folds to find her pleasure nub. It was stiff with excitement and need and he began to flick it gently, getting an immediate reaction from her. She rocked against him, pressing down against his finger desperately, and he let her, until the noises she was making got more enthusiastic, then he pulled back abruptly and landed a hard spank across her right flank.
The sound she made then wasn't one of pain but of whiny irritation as she pulled forward away from his hand automatically, but when he reached under her and started to play with her clit, she moved right back again. He was tempted to do this with her for a while, sending her forward and back like a rocking horse, but her reactions were driving him wild, too, and the throbbing erection was hard to ignore.
If he'd been teasing her for punishment, he'd have pushed aside his own desires and continued to torment her, but this was just for fun, and after a week apart, they both needed the release badly. He circled her entrance with the tip of his finger and then plunged it inside easily. Her back arched and she had to push her face into the blankets again to avoid disturbing the neighbors with the loud cry of pleasure the penetration caused.
Acknowledgments

Before you dive into the thrilling conclusion of Jack and Katherine's story, I just wanted to say a couple of things.
First, thank you to all the readers who've followed their adventures. This was one of those stories that touched a lot of emotions in me and I think that came through in the writing, at least judging by the responses I've seen. This series runs the full spectrum, from the initial heartbreak and betrayal to the happily ever after and every possible emotion in between. I hope I did it justice for all of you who have stuck with me until the end.
As always, love and thanks go to Kat. She has been my friend and editor almost since the beginning of my career. She's the first one to read my completed stories, and it's thanks to her help that I'm able to give them to the publisher in decent form. She somehow manages this with hardly any laughter over the absolutely ridiculous word replacements my tired brain manages.
Deep gratitude and love goes to Kiki and Wenchy, who put up with all my daily whining and complaining but very little of my attitude. They keep the ship pointed in the right direction and everything running smoothly, whether I like it or not. Our adventures keep me sane—relatively speaking—and any day I don't spend time with them just seems empty.
And to Jack, whose name I borrowed for the character in this book, thank you for being part of my life! Despite our somewhat bizarre beginnings, I have never regretted a moment of our relationship. You are amazing, and I just want to say…I love you more and this is even more permanent than a plaque. (P.S. I didn't steal your kidney.)
Finally, my husband. You are amazing, and every day, I feel lucky that we met. Getting to marry you after almost nine years together was the best thing that's ever happened to me. I expect to spend the rest of my life with you and it won't be long enough.
Chapter 1

K atherine couldn't begin to count the number of ways in which her life had changed over the past few weeks. Sometimes it was hard to remember that it had been such a short time. Last month, she'd been a mostly happy girlfriend and submissive, finding fulfillment in those roles as she put together a life for herself. Her dominant boyfriend, Christopher, was also her boss, which, in retrospect, had turned out to be a terrible idea, but at the time it seemed perfect.
It had been a new thing, taking her fantasies of submission to real life with him, which meant she didn't entirely understand that she wasn't getting the best deal out of their relationship. She knew she had some reservations and that he pushed too hard to guide her toward the things he wanted, but then, she expected that from a dominant man. And if sometimes he punished her by giving her the cold shoulder and shutting her out until she caved to his demands, well, that was his right as the top in their relationship, wasn't it?
Right up until the moment when he broke off their relationship and shoved her out into the world on her own, she'd thought she was fairly happy with the situation. She'd blamed herself for dragging her feet and refusing to give in to Christopher, because wasn't that what submissives were supposed to do? She'd thought that was how it was meant to be, and generally, she did give him what he wanted. The only thing she'd managed to put her foot down on was giving up her apartment to move in with him.
She loved Christopher, or she thought she did, but she also liked her space. She was proud of her small rental because it was the first place she'd ever been able to call her own, paid for with her own money and filled with her own things. Second-hand used things, to be sure, but still hers, and she loved them.
Shortly after the third time he'd pressed hard for her to move into his house, Christopher severed their relationship. There'd been no warning, at least not that she'd noticed. They'd been together a year and a few months, and she'd actually half-wondered if he wasn't planning on proposing to her when he told her that he was taking her out for a special dinner. He'd been acting so secretive and mysterious that she'd somehow built it up in her mind that he was going to ask her to marry him. She couldn't have been more wrong about his intentions.
Before their dinners had arrived, Christopher broke the news to her. He'd been kind and gentle about it, seeming almost regretful, but firm, that the relationship was over. Then he'd suggested that she take a vacation alone to sort out her head. The cruise he'd purchased for their one-year anniversary was already paid for, after all, so there was no reason to let it go to waste.
She was empty, confused and completely at a loss with what she was going to do with her life now that they were through. Even her job was compromised, since he was her boss, and she couldn't imagine continuing to work with him after all they'd shared. In a way, she blamed herself. She had a degree in Human Resources management; she should have known what a bad idea an office romance could be—especially one as deeply intense as theirs had been, but he'd been so charming in the beginning.
